Goddamned fucking piece of SHIT. My PS2 isn't working, again. A friend was going to come over tonight and we were going to play FFXII, and dammit but I was looking forward to it. Booted it up, and it's not working. PS1 games work fine, but PS2 games and DVDs don't work at all, least not the ones I've tried. I get a sorta clunking noise, and it says no data. I was watching a DVD on it this afternoon, and it worked fine. I'm really pretty fucking pissed off. Last time it happened it righted itself in a few days, so hopefully it will again, but I suspect that it's on its way out... I don't want to buy a new one, and I certainly don't want a PS3. Too expensive, no games I want yet.

If you want an S/NES, you really should get your hands on something like this:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=1kcCbgVkfY4 which is basically an SNES and NES built into one. I think it plays games from multiple regions, as well. It's pretty cool - I'd be all over it if I didn't get off on piracy so much.

Date: 2008-04-11 05:54 am (UTC)Sweeeet. It plays import Super Famicon games, too! Mmm, original FFV cartridge... I seem to recall seeing one when I was in Japan. It excited me. :) You can buy it here - http://store.videogamecentral.com/retroduo-white-blue.html - only $49.99...

I wonder if Videogamecentral does PS2 repair?

Date: 2008-04-11 06:05 am (UTC)Holy shit, the shipping for FFI to Canada is $26. WTF.
I know, I'm looking forward to going... maybe I can score an old FF game for cheap, then buy that RetroDuo thing. *wanders over to eBay to check prices*

Date: 2008-04-11 06:13 am (UTC)I remember Willows had FF1 for a few dollars. They also had a few rares like the NES Zelda games for cheap. I'd love to own them just out of principal, but I don't know if I can justify the money; I wouldn't get any use out of them or anything.

Date: 2008-04-11 06:19 am (UTC)Mmm, FFT... and Crisis Core. *sigh*
Checked eBay, and damn FFVI is pretty expensive, esp if you want a box and manual (which I'd prefer, but...)

Date: 2008-04-11 06:23 am (UTC)I don't really care about Crisis Core. That's just one of those games that I'd buy/download just to add to my collection of PSP games to justify the console's purchase. >.> Though I heard it's pretty good; I'm just not excited about it due to the fact that we didn't get Before Crisis, and that FFVII novel.. I hate only getting part of the story.
My FFVI is in bad shape, but I got it used, so... Not my fault. :D

Date: 2008-04-11 06:09 am (UTC)Oooh, an original Japanese FFI. I wouldn't be able to play it, but it's cool out of principal. :)
