Goddamned fucking piece of SHIT. My PS2 isn't working, again. A friend was going to come over tonight and we were going to play FFXII, and dammit but I was looking forward to it. Booted it up, and it's not working. PS1 games work fine, but PS2 games and DVDs don't work at all, least not the ones I've tried. I get a sorta clunking noise, and it says no data. I was watching a DVD on it this afternoon, and it worked fine. I'm really pretty fucking pissed off. Last time it happened it righted itself in a few days, so hopefully it will again, but I suspect that it's on its way out... I don't want to buy a new one, and I certainly don't want a PS3. Too expensive, no games I want yet.

Go figure. I just kinda assumed by default that it'd be super buggy and shit, since this is Sony. ;) But yeah, I think it's pretty good overall... just, no games I want yet. Wii is nifty, but doesn't really have any games I want, either. I don't know much about how buggy Xbox 360 is, but it tends to have a lot of the most popular titles, I guess, which is why it does well. But, few RPGs so I'm not so interested.
Lol, I remember I used to have to hit Cecilia's NES to get it to work... not hard, but still had a give it a good whap. ^^;
Sometimes I still secretly want an NES so I can play FFI on the original. :) Also want an SNES, just out of principal, so I can own FFIV/VI/CT/SoM (still haven't played that...). Which reminds me, I had a dream while ago where I bought an original FFIV... hee.

If you want an S/NES, you really should get your hands on something like this:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=1kcCbgVkfY4 which is basically an SNES and NES built into one. I think it plays games from multiple regions, as well. It's pretty cool - I'd be all over it if I didn't get off on piracy so much.

Date: 2008-04-11 05:54 am (UTC)Sweeeet. It plays import Super Famicon games, too! Mmm, original FFV cartridge... I seem to recall seeing one when I was in Japan. It excited me. :) You can buy it here - http://store.videogamecentral.com/retroduo-white-blue.html - only $49.99...

I wonder if Videogamecentral does PS2 repair?

Date: 2008-04-11 06:05 am (UTC)Holy shit, the shipping for FFI to Canada is $26. WTF.
I know, I'm looking forward to going... maybe I can score an old FF game for cheap, then buy that RetroDuo thing. *wanders over to eBay to check prices*

Date: 2008-04-11 06:13 am (UTC)I remember Willows had FF1 for a few dollars. They also had a few rares like the NES Zelda games for cheap. I'd love to own them just out of principal, but I don't know if I can justify the money; I wouldn't get any use out of them or anything.

Date: 2008-04-11 06:09 am (UTC)Oooh, an original Japanese FFI. I wouldn't be able to play it, but it's cool out of principal. :)

We should be going to bed, you with your exam tomorrow and me with work. ;) *iz tired*

Date: 2008-04-11 06:26 am (UTC)I probably do have some rare games, but I don't know what they are, and they're probably not as sought after so their values aren't as high, I guess. I'll count them up one day; maybe it'll add another 100 replies to the Legendary Thread.
