Saw Pirates 4 tonight with

flamebyrd, her husband, and a group of local fans... consensus? Lots of fun hanging around chatting with everyone, punctuated by a little over two hours of boredom. ( Not really any spoilers I don't think, but still... )

Okay, enough complaining. :) I had lots of fun hanging out with everyone, at least.

Random other things:

- I saw Thor a couple of weeks ago. Infinitely better than Pirates, and I greatly enjoyed it. Lots of fun, and lots of eyecandy. ;

- Watched the SV finale last week. I stopped watching in s7 so I read some summaries to catch up. Strange coming back after 3 seasons, because so much has changed, but I still enjoyed it. Nice to see Clark and Lex one last time, and I totally lost it and started crying at the end because. Oh. LEX. We knew it was your destiny and we saw it in flashforwards years ago, but to actually see it happen... :( And then the music and Clark in the costume, and oh. I do rather miss that show.

- not sure what to say about the SPN finale... I liked it well enough. Am as freaked about the ending as everyone, but am hoping it will be resolved satisfactorily and am reasonably confident that it's the *spoilers* making *spoiler* act that way. ;)

- Speaking of SPN, I made a Castiel doll! After 6.20 I felt like I'd need one to hug in the finale, so I made one and mostly finished him in time for Friday. Got the wings on with velcro just yesterday, though, and still want to add some details to his trenchcoat. Will post pictures at some point.

- Work's ok. Busy. Evidently a lot busier than last year at this time, which makes me feel better about being behind in what needs to be done but still stressed about getting it done on time. Sigh. Kinda don't actually have time for a long weekend, though it's nice! Went up to Bowen last night. Tomorrow is hanging out at home, maybe drawing (I have several dS things I want to work on, most of them porny XD), and cleaning the house. Wooo. Livin' it up!

Huh. Evidently I have basically no Pirates icons. What the hell was I using that summer I was in the fandom? o.o This will have to do, then. Sums up my feelings about the movie quite well.

I'm bored... the kind of bored where I can think of about 5 reasonably fun things to do and I don't feel like doing any of them, so I end up playing Solitaire on my computer instead. I know I have some comments to reply to, and I'll get to them... sometime when I'm feeling less lazy. ^^; I think I've finally settled on watching Oz and working on my Jack!Doll. Not sure why I feel like watching Oz; I suspect it's a reaction to watching T:tSSC last night and seeing Dean Winters again. I enjoy seeing him on my screen again on a semi-weekly basis, even if his character is kinda uninteresting. :) And yes, I've started up my Jack!Doll again (and James!Doll will be next, probably). I need something to do that doesn't involve TV or computer, and that actually uses my hands in some vaguely productive way. I started on Jack and James!Dolls last summer at the height of my Pirates of the Caribbean obsession, then dropped them when said obsession faded. But I'd already started Jack's face and I've got all the fabric for them both, so.. yeah. Almost finished Jack's eyes/nose/mouth, then have to try to sew yarn onto his face for his moustache and beard. o.o Then his hair, which will be... interesting. After that it's just his body and clothing, though, which isn't too hard. Then I get to put beads in his hair. XD

Okay, Oz now. It's been monthes since I last saw it; it'll be nice to see my boys again.. I miss them. :( *cuddles Toby and Chris dolls*

Anyays, I'm sitting here in North Van freezIng my ass off. We got down to North Van this afternoon to find that out that our furnace isn't working. *sigh* Hence, very cold. Mom and I took off to Metrotown for the afternoon to stay warm (and see Enchanted, which incidentally is very good), but now we're home and cold again. I'm sitting here in my coat and scarf and gloves. o.o The furnace people are supposed to be on their way, but who knows when they'll arrive? We may have to go up to Bowen again if they don't come, in which case I'll stay overnight at Grandma's place in West Van so I can get out to UBC tomorrow more easily.

Also, electronics are weird. I was in the car today waiting for the ferry and nothing on my portable harddrive would play properly. I freaked out, because I have 5 gigs worth of music videos on there that I really don't want to lose. Then I get home, and it's working fine. -_- And

quettalinde, evidently that DW ep kept crashing because it was originally a corrupted file. -__- Sorry for all the stress in the car today. ^^ I get a bit.. overwrought when it comes to computers. But it's all fine now, though I'm going to back up my music videos and may buy a new harddrive because this one clearly has... issues. Or maybe that's just my computer. -_-

Whew, done... this post took me 2 days. ^^; That's it for now, at least in the way of big posts. Some small stuff, mostly PB, coming soonish. Working on another Alex/Michael pic on the computer which I like okay other than Michael's face (that boy is HARD to draw, ya'll), and an Alex portrait (pencil) that I'm really quite pleased with so far.

For now, being v. lazy. Sitting here flipping between Chamber of Secrets on CBC and L&O: SVU on CTV. Was watching CoS until 10, then switched over to SVU... which I'll stick with for now thank you very much, since CoS is up to Aragog's lair and ewwwwww. Cannot handle that scene in the movie, it's hard enough in the book. o.o

Okay, so I'm on my break right now and, as I have a tendency to do, I was contemplating the ways in which Captain Jack Sparrow is potentially codified as queer, which naturally led to me thinking that he's the kind of character that really does personify the concept of 'queer', rather than 'gay' or 'bisexual', which of course made me think that he reminded me of Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who/Torchwood, which naturally made me think that someone really desperately needs to write Jack/Jack now. Seriously, ya'll. This is an imperative. :) So now I'm sitting at work still on my break for the next five minutes, using the internet to search for Jack/Jack fic and WHY is there no Pirates of the Caribbean crossover community that I can find...? Anyway, I haven't come up with anything so far, but I will inform you all if I do. Because dude, how awesome would it be? Jack, pre-DW, travels to the Caribbean in the 18th century to pull some con or another, and ends up meeting up with Jack Sparrow. Hijinks ensue. And lots of sex.

If anyone feels inspired by this, please write. XD I might just have to go draw Jack Harkness as a pirate now... oh bugger.

(incidentally, speaking of Jack Harkness? The more I hear about a certain casting spoiler for Torchwood s2, the more ridiculously excited I get. This is gonna be AWESOME.)

Okay, I made another manip... heh, 3 in two days. ^^ I'm a bit addicted right now... they're fun. Easier than drawing from scratch, I find, since I already have the base images there. I'm still sticking with black and white for now since I don't have the confidence to try colour... but I'll try it out eventually. :) This one took a bit more work because I decided to give them clothing (don't ask me why XD XD) and I had to redraw their clothing over the suits that the original boys were wearing. Jack's turned out okay, I think, but I'm pretty iffy on James's uniform... oh well. x_x I like it, overall. It ended up being sadder than I meant... I should have chosen pictures where they were smiling. As it is, it seems to me like it's suggesting the oh-so-common-in-fandom scenario of Jack sneaking into Port Royal to be with James, but having to say good bye in the morning again until the next time he can come... so this could be them embracing before Jack leaves, knowing that they can only ever have these stolen moments. ;__; Poor boys.

Rated G. Just snuggling, and they're fully clothed. :)

Haven't been posting much recently... not since Strikethrough, actually. Laazy. -_- I realized that I haven't even posted yet to tell you guys the news - I got the job at the Credit Union. :) Only part-time, though, so I'm keeping my job at Doc's. I've had three shifts so far, including the grand opening today. It's going pretty well so far, though I haven't really had any training yet. She's going to train me next week and the week after... it's a nice environment, though - office is brand new, and the people are friendly. I'm excited to finally have a real job. :) Met our MP Blair Wilson today at the opening, too. Didn't realize who he was at first because I voted in the North Van riding last election and am not too familiar with the West Van riding. ^^ Anyway, I think it will go well and I'm excited to get training...

Anyway, forget real life. XD I've been in a big Pirates mood recently, specifically a Sparrington mood. I never used to ship them, so now I have a huge wealth of fanfiction to read... I've also been inspired to do a bunch of drawings of them, most of which I've already posted. The other day, however, I was browsing elessil's excellent fanart and came across a tutorial she did about graphic manips. I've never tried manipping before, but I was intrigued and decided to give it a go. She provided a few links to boykissing pictures which were very useful, and I chose one that I thought would work well. Finding the right pictures of Jack and James to go with it was a pain in the ass, but I eventually found some that would work... Though I did fiddle with James's mouth a bit to make him look somewhat happier.

Well, all things considered I'm pleased with it. Took a cue from elessil and combined manipping with brushwork/drawing, mainly abusing the smudge function in Photoshop... Not too happy with Jack's hair and I'm a bit iffy on James's arm. But like it otherwise.. I enjoyed doing it, at least once I found pictures that would work, and I might practice some more later.

Please let me know what you think. :) I'd appreciate any feedback, and definitely would like some constructive criticism and advice anyone has to give. I want to get an idea of what I can do to improve it next time...

EDIT: Okay, I think I just realized one of the main problems with this pic... Jack's head is too damned big. Woops. -_-

EDIT 2: I fiddled with it a bit more... can't do anything about Jack's head being too big without redoing his head, but fiddled with him to try to make him blend into the picture more... I think it's a bit better.

Aaand, to cheer us all up... some Sparrington art! I'm tired of following all the wank and it's making my head explode, so I'm posting this then will probably lose myself in some nice porn (maybe INCESTUOUS UNDERAGE porn, snerk) then go to bed. Cause seriously. Sigh. I really don't have much more coherent to say about it, and many others have said it better. Certainly there are several sides to this and a number of issues to be taken into consideration, and it would be nice if LJ posted a proper statement about it. I'm not even sure who to blame anymore; ultimately I think the blame lies in part with WFI and in part with LJ Abuse. I get where LJ was coming from, to some extent, but it makes no sense that they went back on what they'd said in the past, essentially violated their own TOS, and gave in to the pressures of one vigilante group. Because THAT won't set a precedent... Plus, they're ultimately going to lose money since a lot of fans are ditching their paid accounts. Don't really know if it will make much difference in the long run (drop in the bucket of 13 million users...) but it's something, I suppose.

Question: Is there any vague chance that I might have lend any of you my copy of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and/or The Last Samurai at some point in the past? Because they've both disappeared, which makes no sense... They should be on top of my white cabinet in my room in North Van with the rest of the DVDs that I haven't taken up to Bowen, but they aren't. And I'm pissed off, particularly about Pirates. I wanted to watch it again. ;_; I don't remember lending them to anyone, but you never know... also thinking I MIGHT have lent them to my grandparents last summer, so will ask them too. Grr argh. *sighs*

House season finale was a giant 'meh'. It was okay, not great but not bad. I expected something more exciting from the season finale... anyway though, that's my last show to finish for the season. ;_; Though technically I haven't watched the SVU finale, so I suppose I have something else. Not really planning to watch it, though - read some reviews, got a general idea of what happened, really don't care...

Anyway, still planning to post my Pirates 3 review at some point and time... just lazy... also planning to post some AWE Norrington icons I made. They're kinda crappy (the quality of the screencaps was hardly stellar, considering where they're from... coughnocommentcough), and I suck at Photoshop, but whatever... I wanted some AWE-inspired James icons. :) Chatted with a girl at work yesterday about the movie at length - we squeed together over Johnny, Orlando, and Jack. And Keira, heh. Because she is pretty damned gorgeous. :) We have some of those kids drawing pad things (what are they called... you know, they're like little screen things that you can draw on then wipe blank every time) so I drew Jack and James. Was fun, heh. ;) We also squeed loudly together over the upcoming Harry Potters (she thinks Snape is good too, ftw!) and discussed theories. Hee. Then today we discussed the House season finale (she even asked the manager if she could get off early to watch it... and he said yes. Lol.) and Prison Break and other TV/movie stuff. Good times. :) It's nice having cool people to chat with at work, especially after about 2-3 because it gets really quiet in the afternoon, once the lunch rush is over but before dinner.

Still want that Credit Union job, though... second interview tomorrow. Wish me luck. o.o (I've never had a second interview before... meep. Most of my prior jobs pretty much hired me on the spot, because they were basically crap jobs. ^^;)

Not gonna go into detail about it all, since I'm sure a lot of you already know about it, but damn this whole Livejournal-suspending-fandom-journals thing is getting freaky and is pissing me off. I know it's not their fault; evidently they're being pressured by "outside sources" (aka morality crusaders...), but it's BS that innocent fans and communities are getting punished because they're incapable of hunting down ACTUAL pedophiles and criminals and therefore are just deleting anything that seems remotely suspicious. Christ. If ya'll haven't done so already, you might want to remove words like "incest", "rape", "shota", and even Wincest from your interests/userinfo. Hopefully this will pass over soon... and hopefully fandom will be left relatively intact, esp fandoms like SPN where 'cest is so prevalent. Meep.

Computer's been giving me a headache recently... also been getting nauseous after eating quite a bit. Tis odd. And annoying. I hope I'm okay... usually I can use the computer for hours and feel fine, but the last few days it's been bothering me. Which sucks, cause I'm on a fic-reading kick right now (mostly Sparrington this weekend ^_^).

I've got some generalized pain in my abdomen again... kinda freaking out, considering that the pain I had when my appendix burst started off like this (it's not too bad right now; just an ache). I'm worried about the possibility of infection, although I took all the antibiotics and the doctor said that I'm doing well. I've felt fine up until now... I called the doctor's office, but he won't be back in the office until Monday. How helpful. <_< If if still hurts tomorrow morning, I think I'll go to the clinic out here. Not that they've been exactly helpful in the past, but I think considering that I just came out of surgery they'll be more inclined to take it seriously. Hopefully it's nothing and I'm just being paranoid, but after the last time... In the meantime, I'm stressing over both the pain and my workload. Too much to do, and I just can't get down to working on it. I don't even know where to start. Plus I'm busy stressing over other things, like seeing a History advisor tomorrow and doing various other errands and shit around campus. Ergh.
