Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] jeigh... remarkably accurate, for the most part, though there are a couple of things that I'd disagree with (I think I have a stronger interest in the arts than they say, and I'm more cautious than it says...) Other than that, though, it's pretty true.

Personality test )

Anyway, I'm still feeling kinda woozy from last night... probably shouldn't have gotten drunk for the first time on a school night, and especially not by doing Tequila shots. o.o Hardly slept, and was nauseous and woozy all day... though surprisingly didn't have a pounding headache - can I classify it as a hangover if I don't have a headache? ^^; I dunno, but either way I haven't felt very good today. Ended up having to ditch my seminar at 10am because I just couldn't make it, which really really sucks because I was looking forward to it - it was the TV Studies seminar on 'Gay/Lesbian representations in TV'. The one seminar I've been looking forward to all term, aside from the Lost one I'm doing next week. ;__; Dammit. Oh well, someone probably would have said something that would've pissed me off anyway and then I'd be all moody. XD I'm still pretty disappointed, though. Oh well, it's my own damned fault. ^^;

In between bouts of feeling like shit, I've been thinking heavily about my Farscape paper... rambling about essay topic )

Crap, I'm tired. And still kinda feeling blah. I hope this goes away soon. -_- It kinda feels similar to the flu, but I'm quite sure that it's just the after-effects of last night, not any kind of actual sickness. ^^; Either way, don't think I'll do much tonight... this weekend, though, I really need to do some proper work. I'm way behind in my readings, and term papers are creeping up very quickly. And I keep changing my essay topics... sigh.

It just snowed. In October. It didn't last long and was pretty light, but still. Snow. In October.

What have I gotten myself into?? ;__;

On the plus side, everyone here is surprised as well, so I think it's just a random anomaly and we won't see anymore snow for awhile. Still, it's starting to get cold and the wind here is a lot colder than in Vancouver. I need to go get my winter clothing soon. I'm scared. o.o

I'm watching Farscape right now on A Channel... 1.19 'Nerve' is on - first Scorpius episode! It's an awesome episode, and I love going back and watching it now that I've seen the rest of the series. It's great seeing Scorpius and John meeting for the first time, the Aurora Chair, the setup for everything that's going to happen... So much in the series goes back to this episode, and to "A Human Reaction" (which I also watched on Monday). And damn, I love Wayne Pygram. The first shot of Scorpy is great - just standing there looking all sinister.

Ooh, and here's Stark's first appearance... 'my side, your side'. Good times.

Okay, commercial break now. I should really be working. ^^; I've been trying to get through the readings for my fandom presentation on Tuesday. They're making my head spin. How can they take something that I've been interested in and involved in for years, and know plenty about, and make it confusing and boring??

Commercials over. And fuck, it's snowing again! Heeeelp. :(

Scorpius: I've never felt this... connected, John.
John: You're not goin' all mushy on me back there, are ya?

Taken out of context, that quote just sounds SO wrong. XD I couldn't stop myself from giggling when I heard that. Plus, the earlier scene where Scorpy is lying ontop of John with their faces only inches apart... if I didn't get immediately squicked by the thought of Scorpy and sex, I'd so be slashing them...

That said, that episode remains undoubtedly one of the best (if not the best) episodes of Farscape ever, period. It was great watching it again on UPN tonight, though I had been looking forward to the excellent double bill of 2X21 "Liars, Guns, and Money pt3: Plan B" followed by this ep (3X21 "Into the Lion's Den pt. 2: Wolf in Sheep's Clothing") but for some reason UPN decided not to air the former. -_- Still, ITLD pt2 was an utter joy to watch. Some of the best shots in the series were in that ep - Scorpius standing on the stairs, and the last scene between him and John. Both are beautifully directed by Rowan Woods, who never disappoints in his directing - his direction of 3X17 "The Choice" is probably the best in the series, though this ep comes close. This episode just had everything, and was such a perfect encapsulation of the entire show to that point. I remember being shocked that there was still the season finale to come after it, because how the hell could they top it? Still prefer this ep to the next, but the next is great too for different reasons. FS tends to have the big action storyline wrap up in the episodes leading up to the season finale, then the finale is more of a conclusion. Different from how most shows do it.

I've been so into Oz recently, I almost forgot how brilliant this show is. But damn, that episode is incredible. Quite possibly one of the best hours of television I've ever seen, which is saying something.

Next week, the season 2 finale followed by the season 3 finale. And this time I double-checked the TV guide to make sure they'll both be on. Ooh yeah, I'm looking forward to the s2 finale...

EDIT: Whoa, I got linked on [livejournal.com profile] farscape_weekly... cool, how'd that happen? Oh well, thanks to whoever did so though I hadn't really meant it to be read by anyone other than my friends... always thought my LJ was pretty isolated cause I rarely post to comms. I feel self-conscious now. ^^;

*contented sigh* Ahh, tonight's offering of Farscape just ended: The Locket (2.16) and Revenging Angel (3.16). One of the saddest episodes of the series, and one of the funniest. Sobbed straight through the first one, and killed myself laughing in the second. XD But I mean really, how many shows could get away with an episode where half of it is based on a Looney Toons cartoon?? Well, Joss Whedon probaby could've, considering that he got away with a musical and turning his main character into a puppet... still, this is the only show that I've ever seen where half of it is actually animated and completely parodies roadrunner sketches. Especially amusing because I used to be a huge fan of roadrunner as a kid. I love that they actually used the exact same jokes as in the original sketches, just adapted (love D'argo drawing the wormhole to lure John in). Not to mention it's a damned amusing look at the messed up inside of John Crichton's head... it's so John to use cartoons as a way to understand what's happening. The big ol' dorky astronut/natural born loser. XD

Next week, The Ugly Truth followed by The Choice. Decent ep, followed by one of the most heartbeaking of the series... it's strange to be watching s2 eps followed right after by s3 - and the same ep number in each, too. Ep17 of both seasons next week... we're coming up to the really intense stuff in both. Hell yeah. XD

The very quick real life update: first, the part I've been not wanting to post cuz it's depressing - I didn't get the gallery job... :( Oh well, back to the video store I guess. I'm feeling better about it now - was pretty upset last night. Other than that, not much to say other than the Serenity screening yesterday which was awesome. More detailed post when it's not 1am... but had a great day, at least until I got the bad news about the job in the evening. I love Browncoats - awesome, awesome fandom, and I'm proud to have contributed my little bit to Equality Now. Between the 40-odd screenings this weekend, I'd say we all raised quite a bit. Yay us!

...I think my brain just exploded. This show is trying to kill me, I know it is. O.O Seriously, it has the most evil cliffhangers ever. Evil, utterly evil. This show is evil.

Though I mean that in the most complimentary way, of course.

Only 2 episodes and the PK Wars miniseries left... I'm not sure how long I'll be able to go before I need to see what happens after this episode, but since I have an exam on Tuesday that I really need to study for, I guess it'll have to wait.

Anyway, on the update front...

Italy stuff )

School stuff )

More Farscape stuff, aka On Watching the Premiere with a Newbie. No real spoilers. )

Okay, um, should really go study. Shit, when did it get to be 6:30? Where did the last 5 hours since I got home go??

Haven't posted in awhile... Here are some updates and ramblings and whatnot.

Toronto )

Farscape )

School and stuff )

[livejournal.com profile] bronzejarith - I talked to the program coordinator for Langara, and he says that it's easy to book a spot in the campsite if you want to come down. It's pretty cheap - $18-20. We could get a trailer together for the last few days of my program, then take off early on the 6th. Also, he said that the company also has a campsite near Pompeii, so maybe we should go there? We only have a few days, after all. And the campsite's on the beach, he said. Might be fun just to hang out in the sun and see Pompeii for 2-3 days. It's not really enough time to go anywhere else...

Anyway, I should get to bed soon. I keep staying up too late these days, and I haven't been feeling that well. I think I'm mostly just tired, so I should try to get more sleep tonight.

Enneagram Test meme )

Hmm, fairly accurate. Though the picture's wrong - I actually quite like shopping at Walmart, much to my mother's horror. XD

Supposed to be reading Macbeth right now... Considering that it was supposed to be finished weeks ago. By all rights I should be long finished that and currently reading King Lear, since we start that tomorrow. Oh well... ^^;; I had a very, very unproductive Reading Week. Only day I really got anything done at all was when I went to the library with [livejournal.com profile] rainbowpegacorn on Wednesday... sigh. I had so much I'd planned to get done, and I was anticipating an uninterrupted week to catch up on reading and start planning my essays... did any of that happen? Heck no. -_- I suck.

So, what did I actually do this week? Played a ton of computer card games, played some Dragon Quest 8 (though not nearly as much as I'd wanted to), and watched way too much Farscape. I'm nearly done season 2 now (just watched 2X17), and I'm definitely enjoying it more and more. Now that it's getting more plot-based it's more exciting; there are far fewer mediocre filler eps than there were in season 1. There have been some awesome episodes this season - I loved episode 15, with Crichton's crazy hallucinations. Huge props to all the actors for that episode; everyone did a great job of portraying the 'fake versions of the characters' (Scorpius playing the drums? Classic. D'argo was hilarious, too, as were the rest. One of my favourite parts was when John exclaims to fake-Zaahn that she's an alien, and she replies with "yes, but I have a green card." Also when D'argo comes onto John... XD Everything in that episode was freaking cracked...) I love episodes like that - those weird and different episodes that most shows have - like OMWF, Restless, and Hush on BtVS, Deconstruction of Falling Stars and various others on Babylon 5... those kinds of episodes tend to be love or hate episodes, but I usually love them. It's always great to see an episode that turns the entire series on its head and does something really creative. It's fun watching an episode where every five minutes I exclaim, "damn, this episode is on crack!"

Anyway. I'm rambling. But yeah, it's a good show. I was a bit iffy about it at first, but towards the end of season 1 it got quite a bit better, and after some weak episodes at the start of s2 it's really starting to move along. The characters and plot are interesting, and the actors are all great. Too bad it got cancelled; I only have a little over 2 more seasons to look forward to...

Now that Reading Week is over I guess I'd better get off my ass and do some work. I have to hand in the proposal for my History essay on Friday, and I've barely done anything. Damn. I also need to start planning my other essays (especially the Macbeth one, since I need to get it in on March 8th, before I go to Toronto), and finish up some reading. This term is going way, way too quickly.

Anyway, Grey's Anatomy starts in a few minutes so that's it for now.
