Well, I did it! I offered my doll-making "skills" over at
livelongnmarry: http://community.livejournal.com/livelongnmarry/229926.html
So if anyone has a hankering for a plush doll and wants to support a great cause, please bid! :)
And on that note - meet Tony!Doll! I took pictures of everyone to post as examples (well, except for Gaara, who is currently sitting at my other house and is lacking clothing... and who frankly was too much of a pain in the ass for me to want to make again (besides, you can buy a much nicer official one online...), so I finally have pictures of Tony to post.

So whaddya think? I love him a slightly ridiculous amount.. and I'm not ashamed. ;) Took him to see Iron Man the second time, for chrissakes!
Bed now. Gotta be at work very early tomorrow, woe. :(

Date: 2008-07-13 09:42 pm (UTC)I'd love to see a how-to type thing posted. I'm sure many of us would love that.
I also have no real knowledge or experience in sewing, but I had it for two years in high school. So I may be able to give it a try. ^-^

Date: 2008-07-13 09:51 pm (UTC)Anyway, long and short of that is - feel free to bid then pay a bit later. :) Long as you donate at some point soonish, then comment in the community to say that you've done so so they can add it to the total donations amount.
I may do so, then. :) I'll scan the pattern and the actual instructions that came with it (or just post the name of the pattern if someone wants to just buy it. ^^) then run down what I do for modifications and such.
And that's prob enough experience - they're quite simple, really. And you don't have to hand embroider the face if that's too much (frankly it's my least favourite part, and takes ages for me...) - you could always draw it on, or use buttons or something.

Date: 2008-07-14 05:38 am (UTC)Thinking now that I'll do the post as I make the doll for the auction, so I can post in-progress pictures. So it'll be a little while, but sometime within the next month, prob.
