Well, I did it! I offered my doll-making "skills" over at [livejournal.com profile] livelongnmarry: http://community.livejournal.com/livelongnmarry/229926.html

So if anyone has a hankering for a plush doll and wants to support a great cause, please bid! :)

And on that note - meet Tony!Doll! I took pictures of everyone to post as examples (well, except for Gaara, who is currently sitting at my other house and is lacking clothing... and who frankly was too much of a pain in the ass for me to want to make again (besides, you can buy a much nicer official one online...), so I finally have pictures of Tony to post.

So whaddya think? I love him a slightly ridiculous amount.. and I'm not ashamed. ;) Took him to see Iron Man the second time, for chrissakes!

Bed now. Gotta be at work very early tomorrow, woe. :(

*gasps* And obscure his chest?!

...good point. What was I thinking? *grin* Anyway, his shirt is too short.. it rides up really high. Mom thinks it makes him look gay. ^^;;; (my response to this would generally be to go and write/read/draw some Tony/Rhodey porn, lol). (she's right, though. He looks like he should be in a gay nightclub or something when his shirt rides up like that, it's rather amusing).

...omg I need to write Tony going to a gay nightclub. *plots*

I agree. What exactly is the problem with Tony looking gay? XD

Gay nightclub, win! D'y'think he'd be so Tony-ish as to not notice what it was? (Roomie's ex did that at Celebrities. Twas apparently quite funny when the guy he was dancing with/beside kissed him.) Or would Tony totally go to try to pick someone up or play with peoples' minds?

And what does Pepper think about all of this? XD

Absolutely nothing that I can see. ;)

HEE. I'm playing around with a bunch of scenarios... among them: Spring break '87 (though I can't remember the exact context of that line? I think he just implies that something crazy happened then with Rhodey...?) is one possibility. Tony's last year at MIT, he decides to go to a gay club (either by accident or for fun/last chance to experiment in collage, or on a lost bet... heh.). And drags Rhodey, who's in his first year at MIT, with him. Kinda fudging the timelines, but I think it works...? Or else, yeah, current day Tony goes to one for... similar reasons, really. Just can't decide WHICH reason. Rhodey may or may not be there. Toby from Oz may or may not be there, lol, since I never did write that crossover... hot sex in the backroom will probably ensue. With who? No idea yet. ^^ Probably Rhodey.

Also vaguely imagining that Pepper is pissed at Tony for some reason or another so she recommends the club to him without telling him that it's a gay bar. Amusement ensues. ;)

Either scenario, I think she'd be pretty amused. Or possibly jealous. But mostly, amused.

Oh, yes! Spring Break '87! (Though I'm not sure Tony wasn't just saying that to get a rise out of people and nothing actually happened.) I somehow don't see Rhodey as the hot sex in bathroom type. I think he's too uptight to let that happen. *shrugs*

I'm partial to the Pepper plot because it's more crack-y but that me. I liking the crack. Don't think she'd be all that amused if he brought a strange man home, though.

He is amazing!
I was going to do this myself actually but then I remembered I have no ability with sewing at all.

Thank you! And lol, well, if it helps, I know very little about sewing myself... I have a pretty simple pattern that my grandmother initially adapted from a raggedy Ann/Andy doll pattern and then taught me how to make them. I took a gr9 sewing class years ago, but that's it... really, all you need to learn is how to use the basics of a sewing machine and a few other assorted things. :) I wouldn't mind learning more, myself, so I can make more advanced ones. I saw a Captain Mal doll a guy had made at the Serenity screening a few weeks ago, and wow it was amazing. No loose threads or frayed edges, for one thing, lol!

Anyway, as I said in the post, if you want one my auction is still going until the 15th. :) Or I would consider posting a pattern and instructions if you were interested - already offered that to someone below. A very basic understanding of sewing is necessary though, I suppose, ie. how to thread the machine. :)

That's the BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN and I WANT ONE. NOW.

ROFL. Glad you like. ;) You can bid on one over on my auction if you want. *grin* Or else, I can post info on how to make him if you're interested - it's really pretty simple, and I say that knowing pretty much zip about sewing (took one high school class, about 5-6 years ago...).

How long with your auction last? I have no way to pay for it now, but I'll be getting my debit card very soon. :D

I'd love to see a how-to type thing posted. I'm sure many of us would love that.

I also have no real knowledge or experience in sewing, but I had it for two years in high school. So I may be able to give it a try. ^-^

Until July 15th. But you can donate whenever you want, really - it's all an honour system. :) Depending on where you donate there will be different ways of paying, and not sure that debit will work for any since they're online... unless you have an organization close to you where you're planning to donate in person? But anyway, I imagine they'll accept credit card and Paypal, among others... you can check out the diff charities they suggest on the community and see what they accept. :)

Anyway, long and short of that is - feel free to bid then pay a bit later. :) Long as you donate at some point soonish, then comment in the community to say that you've done so so they can add it to the total donations amount.

I may do so, then. :) I'll scan the pattern and the actual instructions that came with it (or just post the name of the pattern if someone wants to just buy it. ^^) then run down what I do for modifications and such.

And that's prob enough experience - they're quite simple, really. And you don't have to hand embroider the face if that's too much (frankly it's my least favourite part, and takes ages for me...) - you could always draw it on, or use buttons or something.

That's great, thanks for the information! I'll definitely be looking into that. C:

I can't wait for that post. Thanks so much.

You're welcome, and thanks! :)

Also, I checked and <href="http://www.marriageequality.org/meusa/">Marriage Equality USA accepts Paypal and cheque. The others seem to be credit card only. Just fyi. :)

Oh, and FYI - I just looked more carefully at the community, and in fact the bidding ends at 12:01am PST on the 15th - so really, the night of the 14th... just over 24 hours from now (currently 10:30 PST).

Thinking now that I'll do the post as I make the doll for the auction, so I can post in-progress pictures. So it'll be a little while, but sometime within the next month, prob.

Lol, thanks! :) I like making them, they're fun and cute... if you click on the link to the auction you can also see pics of the others I've made, from HP, Supernatural, and Oz. :)

Oh man! That's so cute! I've been thinking of maybe making a Tony!doll myself. I did, however, make a shirt with an arc reactor painted on it and wore it to the movie. Doing that of stuff is fun. LOL

Thanks! :) And cool sounding shirt, I should do something like that, too. ^^

Anyway, I may be posting a how-to for making Tony!doll at some point in the nearish future, so stay tuned if you want to make one based on it. :)
