Another reason i love living in Canada... I missed the premiere of The Sarah Connor Chronicles at 8 on Fox, but CTV is airing it at 9. :) Missed the first 5-10 minutes, but am enjoying it so far. Though I have a confession to make - I've never seen Terminator. I saw the 2nd one ages ago, in high school, but remember next to nothing. Yes, I fail at life. I know a few basics about the movie, but not enough to really understand the backstory to the show. Oh wells. ^^;

I love watching Summer Glau kick ass. XD Go Summer!

And DUDE, no one ever told me that Dean Winters would be in it! I bounced around like a little kid when I saw him. :) Took me a few moments to realize it was him - shorter hair, some stubble, and he looks older... but recognized his voice before I recognized his face. ^^ He's just a recurring character for now, but I think he's gonna be in a few eps at least. Yays.

Anyway, I may go hunt up a quick summary of the Terminator movies... or, you know, just watch them. ^^; This is quite good so far, has gotten good reviews, has a good cast, and is one of the only damned shows on TV right now so I might as well watch and enjoy it.

(speaking of, I watched the "Golden Globes" tonight... heh. Missed the first bit, but caught the last half an hour. I think it was, what, about 45 minutes long altogether? Very exciting. -__- On the other hand, it certainly went a lot faster than the normal awards, and without the boring bits. But I missed the glamour and the stars and the red carpet and the funny speeches.. yes, I am shallow and want to be entertained. XD)

Okay, off to watch the rest of the episode properly...

A lot of people have a problem with the acting and the incestual chemistry between Sarah and John (unintentional?). They also don't like the casting choice for Sarah. I get the impression that she's as Barbie-like as Kara from Smallville. And honestly it would irk me too. Having seen the movies many times (the third one doesn't exist), I'm used to seeing Sarah as a rugged and buff woman who's believably experienced in combat and been through many hardships, rather than some model running around and beating up men three times as big.

I suppose that's a little hypocritical of me, given that I have no problem with Ruby, for example. But I guess first impressions are hard to get over, no?

*shrug*

But I haven't seen the show yet, so maybe I should do that first before using other people's opinions to form my own. >.>

Haha, it does seem a tad incestual... probably because she's only 14 years older than him and they're both ridiculously pretty. XD Anyway, not being familliar with Linda Hamilton's portrayal of the role, I can't really say.. I thought she was pretty good and seems to fairly realistically be a fighter. You don't have to be super bulky to be a good fighter, after all. Though yeah, granted she's still ridiculously pretty and all. ^^; Anyways, I definitely enjoyed Summer Glau - and she can get away with being small yet super strong, considering she's a cyborg (and hell, she did it as River and she was fully human albeit mentally altered in Firefly).

Anyways, it's worth checking out... I'm sure that it's different watching it when you're a fan of the movies, but at lot of fans seem to be enjoying it so it sounds like it stands up pretty well to the movies.

Being a good fighter does require bulk (not the same as tone), because fighters need that mass behind them, and mass most efficiently comes from muscle (some go the extra distance of adding fat). Technique alone will put you over the average person of similar body size/frame, but beyond that size and strength really does begin to matter. I don't mean that they need to be distorted body builders or whatever, but well-trained muscles are very important, and very visible.

But that doesn't really matter when it comes to TV, where they can get away with almost everything provided that they do a good job.

I wasn't aware that Summer Glau played River. >.> I have a hard time remembering the names of actors.

True... I more meant that they don't need to be overly bulky - some muscle mass is no doubt necessary. And it's true that she... kinda lacks that. Oh wells, she's pretty anyway. ^^;;;; Tis usually all that really matters on TV, sad though that may be. Overall very pretty cast, really. (Thomas Dekkar is gorgeous, damn.. younger than me, too, but oh wells). (And Dean Winters from Oz guest-starring, ftw! He's getting older, but still damned fine looking) And of course Summer is beautiful. :) Ahh, the shallowness of television...
