Anyone want to buy a print of a gorgeous painting by a renowned Canadian artist? ^__^

Yup, we've got an eBay store up and running! Selling cheap prints done on Dad's printer for $10 a pop. If you live in Vancouver you can pick it up. :) (though it occurs to me I should have mentioned that in the listing). Anyway, it was our first one, so we'll see what happens. I'm.. not overly optimistic, really. Though I like to hope that this stands out from the absolute drivel that populates the Art category on eBay. We're thinking of starting up a Cafepress store, too, to sell his work on mousepads and mugs and shit. We are so not above this kinda stuff... we just want to make some money off of the 40+ years of beautiful art in our garage and basement. *sigh* Anyway, take a look, spread the word, etc. I figure my LJ is as good a place as any to show off Dad's work. Check out his website, too - http://www.greggsimpson.com.

For those of you who don't know, ie. those who don't know me IRL, Gregg Simpson is my father and is a brilliant but (cliche though it is) struggling artist. He's shown across Canada and Europe and has had a documentary made on him a few years back, but trying to get really noticed in Canada is... difficult. He's on bad terms with the Vancouver art scene (believe me, I've been hearing him rant about it for 22 years), namely because he says that they aren't open to his style of art (ie. you know, paintings. This being the age of conceptualism. Again, 22 years of ranting, people.) And, well, it just ain't easy to get people to look at his art seriously, I guess. God knows why; I think it's amazing and always have, and not just because I'm a bit biased. ;) They love him in Europe, anyway - he's in the permanent collection of a gallery in Spain now. ^_^ Our goal is to open up an art foundation in Vancouver, possibly even on Bowen Island, to showcase his art and the art of other Canadian/West Coast modern artists. Now, all we need is $1-2 million to buy one of the various gorgeous properties on Bowen to convert into a gallery... *sigh*

Anyway, we're still ironing out the postal costs, which is why it's somewhat vague. Hopefully we can work out exact costs to different parts of the world and different speeds.

And any advice on selling on eBay would be muchly appreciated. :) I've bought off eBay before, but have never sold. We're sticking with Buy it Now for the time being.

(and if anyone sees anything they like on the website, don't hestitate to ask about prints... we've only just begun with eBay, and we'll sell anything of his, print or original, and hell we'll even make you pretty merchandise if you ask. *grin*)

And yeah, this is blatantly self-promotional (well, sort of. I certainly have a stake in this, anyway!), and I don't care. XD It occurs to me that I've never really mentioned his art here, namely because in the past everyone I knew on here were my RL friends who know him anyway, but I figured I'd throw this out there as advertising. If anything, I just want more people to see his work.

EDIT: Okay, forget eBay... we're going for Cafepress instead. :) Check it out - http://www.cafepress.com/newarcadia
