One hour left until Lost season 6 premieres!! Wow, hard to believe. It's been five years since I first started watching, halfway through season 1. I caught up on eps 1-16 in a few weeks January 2005 and started watching episodes live at 1.17 'In Translation'. I remember watching 1.18 for the first time in the tv lounge at my 2nd year rez and freaking out at the end when we see the numbers on the hatch. And I remember watching 1.20 in the same place and sobbing, then everyone on my floor trooping into the lounge right as it finished for a rez meeting. I wanted to kick everyone the hell out so I could watch the last couple of minutes in peace and cry. ^^ Good times... I have fond memories of watching season 1, and the summer between seasons 1 and 2 when I was super into the show, loved Jack/Sawyer, and ate up every J/S fic I could find. It was a good summer. :) I don't think the level of my excitement when season 2 premiered has been matched by any of the other premieres since. (and for all that season 2 went downhill later, the first episode was awesome and I was so into it that I wasn't that picky anyway. But oh man, anyone else here who watches Lost remembers those first few minutes when Desmond was revealed in the hatch?? That was fucked up. And awesome.)
Yeah, the show as so much simpler back then, eh? I've been reflecting nostalgically on it over the last few days, remembering the days in season one when we knew nothing at all except that they were all stuck on this crazy island with polar bears, a monster, a crazy French chick, and a mysterious hatch. Before we had even heard of the Dharma Initiative and everything that went along with it. Good times. :) I still love the show it a lot of ways, but it almost lost me in seasons 3 and 4. Season 5 really was awesome, though - almost as good as season 1. I'm still impressed that they pulled the time travel stuff off so well, because when I first heard rumours of it I remember thinking "right, that's it - Lost really has jumped the shark..." But then it was awesome. And we got Sawyer/Juliet which was unexpectantly awesome.
Anyway... 40 more minutes! Thank god for time-shifting; I'm so glad I don't have to wait until it airs on the west coast at 9. Off to make dinner now, so I'll be ready to go at 6!
