California State Court to Rule Tuesday on Prop 8
*bites fingernails* Okay, so now I'm feeling kinda nervous and ill and cannot wait until Tuesday... gaaaah! I don't have too much hope, and have pretty much been expecting this all to drag on for years, but maybe! I gather they already indicated they would uphold Prop 8 back in March, but you never know... god how wonderful would it be if they just struck it down right here and now? Wonder how likely that is? And would that automatically re-legalize same-sex marriages? Of course there would be appeals, but it'd still be a victory. I still get depressed every time I think about Prop 8 and just keep reminding myself that it won't last forever. We've got Iowa, Vermont, and Maine on our side now, too. ;) And New Hampshire soon. That's over 10% of the states, so when you think about it that way... ^^
Anyway, moving on from that... I've been at my first WWOOF host's place for about 4 days now, and so far it's been lovely. Yes really, I am enjoying myself and the gardening. ;) She's got a nice little property with an organic vegetable garden and a river. There's a bunch of us here right now (aside from our host, there are 2 men that live and work here, 2 other WWOOFers from Taiwan, and just today we picked up two more WWOOFers who needed an emergency place to stay for 2 nights. Plus the dog. XD So yeah, pretty full, but it's nice...). Today was market day. which meant waking up at 4:45am to drive to the site of the market and set up the tables with the food to sell (cookies, cakes, sausage rolls, dips, soups... various other stuff). Waking up befpre 5 aside, it was fun - after setting up we went to get breakfast and wandered around while the other two girls worked, then we came back and worked the remaining 2 hours to sell the food (and we pretty much sold out!). Were back by ~2 and was okay for another 2 hours or so, then promptly crashed and slept for over an hour. ^^ It's about 6:30 now and I'm awake but tired, and sitting on the couch waiting for the pizza to come out of the oven (mmm, pizza...).
Tomorrow we're digging holes for the chicken coop she's building... then we're off for the afternoon and for Monday. Going to head into Portland (the town she lives near) on Monday to explore, maybe rent bikes or something. Then another week here before heading to our next host, an artist who runs a gallery/cafe/b&b. Looking forward to that one (check out his website here). Not sure what after, we'll see..
OOH pizza's ready. Off to eat now. Will post pictures at some point, I promise... got lots of beautiful sunrise pictures from this morning.
