Whew, just left a pile of prompts over at Porn Battle VII... Always fun. :) Mostly pundit-themed, but with a dash of Tony Stark and Jack Harkness thrown in. And Rahm Emanuel. ;) And one Dark Knight prompt, just for kicks. They're here if anyone's interested. Dunno if I'll write anything this year; we'll have to see if I get inspired...

Tomorrow, exciting day: I'm going to TravelCUTS to officially register with Swap.ca to go on a working holiday to Australia. Yikes!! I know I haven't said much about it on here yet, other than a couple of obscure comments, so there you go... I'm going to Australia. ^__^ In March. For 6 months. I'm... excited, slightly terrified, wondering if I'm insane (I'm giving up one of the rare secure jobs left in the financial industry during a recession to go buggering off for 6 months??), but... yeah, I'm bored of my job and life in general right now, and it's time to do something like this and just go and work and travel and have a good time for awhile. Cuz heck, not going to be able to do it when I'm much older, with a career and a family and whatnot... anyway, I've already given notice at my job (yikes!!! Not leaving til mid-March, but in our small office I want to make sure they can hire someone new who we can train up a bit before I leave) and told my landlady that I'm moving out at the end of February (then will move back to parents' house for the last few weeks before I leave).

Anyway, I'm exhausted and it's past 12, so I'm off to bed. I'll no doubt be posting more about my plans over the next couple of months... promise to keep ya'll updated. :) (and if anyone's ever done anything like this, or been to Australia... now's the time to let me know. ^^ any advice??).

I think your code is borked

You're going to Australia? Australia? Why there? (I know, it's because of Jane, isn't it?) ^^

Anyway, I'll probably wish you luck later, but good luck now, too! I hope this is the move you need, and that you come back in the fall with all sorts of experience. And that the recession has gone away by then. Far, far away… It should, though. Miracle Man is in charge now. ;p

And I'm tired and rambling, so off to bed it is for me too…

A few reasons, that among them.. gah, I'm sorry, I thought I'd mentioned it to you, but I guess not... well, not as anything definitive anyway, I'll grant. *rambling* I've been turning the idea over in my head for awhile, but only really decided for sure to do it in the past few weeks.

Anyway, as for 'why Australia'... I've never been there before, and if I'm actually going to live and work in a country for awhile then I'd like somewhere new but which is also relatively familiar (ie English-speaking, similar culture to our's...). Been to Europe several times now, and while I considered England, I like the idea of going somewhere totally new and also, of course, where Jane is right now. Also, it's warm. ;) Anyway, it sounds pretty cool, and I'd also love to see New Zealand if I get the chance (plus: kangeroos!).

Anyway, a lot of it's just because I need a change and need to do something new and exciting. I've been bumming around for the past year or whatever working at my current job and trying to "figure out my career interests", and I still have no clue, so it seems like it's time to take a break and do something completely different. I never took a gap year, just gone straight from HS to Univ to work, and I think I need to get out there and experience life a bit, ya'know? And gotta do it while I'm still young, before I get caught up in a career and family and all that...

Hey, fair enough and all valid reasons. Sorry, the announcement just felt out of the blue to me and so my response was a little shocked… ^^6 Australia sounds like one of the better options (well, only option, I suppose, apart from New Zealand itself and maybe South Africa). I wish you well! Smart of you to plan it so you're there over their winter, so you don't get the hot, hot heat they've got right now.

I hope this helps you to figure those career interests out. (I never did a gap year either…. I'd like to travel, but I can't really afford it, I don't think. *sigh*)
