So yeah, I didn't go to school today. Too much snow; it would've been a pain in the ass. UBC was the ONLY flipping school in Vancouver to stay open, too. -_- Instead had to go buy a bloody suit and shoes because I have work tomorrow. We were originally going to go up to Bowen tonight, so I would've had clothing there, but what with the snow we stayed down here and will get the 8am ferry tomorrow. Woe. Didn't bother bringing a suit home, so had nothing to wear. o.o Had to buy SHOES, ya'll. The horror. *shudder* I got some little stupid pointy things with no heels, and they'll do I suppose. I don't care of my other shoes are ugly and clunky, they're comfy. (I hate shoe shopping with a passion, seriously).

On the plus side, afterwards we went to Futureshop and I saw Disgaea 2 for $29.99 - and it's usually $49.99 at EBGames! (and $44 used, so this was STILL cheaper and it's new!). Sweeeeeet. So I bought it, of course. -__- Disciplining myself - finish FFXII first, then we'll see. Was supposed to finish DQVIII after, but realistically I suspect this will come next. I'm coming along in FFXII, anyway - in Giruvegan, for anyone who's played it. Second to last dungeon. Some moderately difficult enemies, but not really having any problems so far. Except from some horrid Malboro things which cast every flipping status effect in the game on me. In one attack. So I left the dungeon and bought 50 remedies, lol. That oughta do me. :)

Okay, work now for an hour, then House... woo hoo.

in Giruvegan, for anyone who's played it. Second to last dungeon.

Nope. Two more before the last: Ridorana Cataract and Pharos, although the former is really short. I strongly recommend setting aside 4-6 hours for Pharos though. That one is just not fun. At all.

Oh, I thought it was just Pharos yet. Was only skimming the guide, though.. and yeah, Pharos sounds not fun. I don't like playing for more than about 1-2 hours, so hopefully there will be a decent number of save points. I get irritated when there's no save point around for miles and I get bored and need to stop or whatever. My attention span on games isn't as high as it used to be. ^^; I like games where you can save anywhere; it's not about making it easier to me, it's about fucking practicality. So I can play a bit, then stop, without having to find a time when I have 2-3 hours ahead of me and don't have to worry about needing to stop.

I don't remember the dungeon very well. I think there are something like 100 floors, but you go up a by several as you ascend - you'll see. It's really three separate dungeons with one waypoint at the beginning of each part. I don't remember the save points being very convenient, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, I agree about being able to save everywhere. I can't afford to sit there and play for 5 hours at a time, and doing that gets pretty boring. That's why I strayed away from RPGs in general in favor of genres where you can play for 30-60 minutes or whatever.

Yeah. You could do that in Lunar; I liked that... and stategy games are good for that; it's part of why I so enjoyed replaying FFT - I could play it for short bursts. It's a pity, because I'm still very fond of RPGs... Actually, DQVIII was good for that, too, once you got the teleportation spell thingy - you could pop over to a save point whenever. Course, if you were in the middle of a dungeon.. yeah. But sometimes if I needed to I'd leave a dungeon to save then run back through it again (easier when you've been through once).

Anyway, I still have this ridiculous backlog to get through. o.o FFXII first, though... don't think I'll bother with any of the extra sidequest shit, though I might pop back to it occasionally if I miss the gameplay. It is pretty fun...

FFXII's main sidequests (the hunts) are really fun, but only if you do them as you progress through the game. If you get started on them at the very end, then most of them will be too easy to be of any interest. Getting the summons is also fun; especially Zeromus, because it opens the best money-making area in the game. But if you're just looking to finish the game and being done with it, then it's probably best to make a bee-line for the final boss.


My backlog is pretty clear, I think: Mainly just unfinished FFX and FFXII. I can't forsee actually having a backlog in the future, since there are no upcoming PS2 RPGs that I want.

Yeah, I've done a few of the hunts, but can't really be bothered now.. it's funny, I used to love finding the super-hard dungeons and bosses and fighting them, but not as much now. I think I'm getting wimpier in my old age. XD XD

Oh god, you should see mine... remember the post I made bout it awhile back? Yeah. About 10 games.

Did you ever play the Xenosaga trilogy? I remember you buying those...

Yeah, I finished it off last summer. I started XS1 for shits and giggles one day because I was bored, but I got into the story/characters by the end. And that, of course, spilled over to the other two games. Very good story and characters overall, although it's just tragic how company politics caused the creator/director/writer to practically abandon the project halfway through, ultimately causing the whole series to be half as long as originally intended.

If you look at the past inventors and scientists that managed to revolutionize something, they all had that special "something"; a hightened level of creativity and ingenuity. Musical instrument would be cool too, but I've honestly never tried - maybe I do have that talent?

A. Only platonic ones.

2) What was your dream growing up?
A. I had a dream once that I swallowed a candy cane with the wrapper still on. I realized this at the last moment and tried to reach back into my throat to retrieve it, but I just ended up swallowing the skin off my body as well so that I was an ambulatory skeleton. Then I was all, argh! I have to learn how to live life as a skeleton, and all because of a stupid and irrevocable mistake! But later I woke up.

If by 'dream' you actually mean 'ambition', then I wanted to be a writer, but I think in retrospect that this was mostly just because that's what I thought avid readers were supposed to want.

3) What talent do you wish you had?
A. Flight.

4) If I bought you a drink what would it be?
A. Man, I don't know what kind of drinks you like to buy people. Since I don't drink alcohol, though, anything of that description would be of limited utility to me.

5) Favorite vegetable?
A. I find it difficult to be enthusiastic about vegetables, so I'm going to cheat and say 'mushrooms'.

A. I am in the middle of A.S. Byatt's Possession.

A. Getting angry, maybe. Or leaving for the bus at the very last minute and missing it half the time. Come to think of it, I should probably go avoid that latter and finish this later.

A. That would be strange and a little bit cruel, seeing as I don't have a car!

A. Hi, now I'm back and it's way later in the day. I don't have a good answer to this question.

A. I am an optimist who worries all the time.

A. I'd press the alarm button, if we hadn't done that yet. Then we'd probably talk about Farscape or something.

A. A number of things that happened to me while in the regular school system were so outrageously bad that I now think that they're hilarious stories, like the time some older kids pulled a knife on me in the Maplewood bathrooms, or the therapist who thought it was a good idea to have four adults pin me down to the table in his office for hours each week to teach me trust. Also, once, a girl I had a crush on said, and this is a direct quote, "Oh, yeah, I'd kiss anybody in this room! Except for Andy, of course." These are the sitcom-ridiculous kind of terrible things to have happen to you, as opposed to the more devastating, less astonishing kinds, but I think I won't think about the latter right now.

A. I originally started growing my hair, at 12, in emulation of Tasslehoff Burrfoot from the Dragonlance Chronicles.

A. Heck if I remember. My earliest memories of you are of your being Sara's female friend who was hyperactive and enthusiastic and liable to form obsessions with particular characters, but that was after I already knew you a little.

A. I think it depends on the clown.

A. Do you know, I quite like the way I look. I guess if I could become a snappy dresser without actually putting any work into it or ceasing to feel like I looked like me, that would be nice.

My earliest memories of you are of your being Sara's female friend who was hyperactive and enthusiastic and liable to form obsessions with particular characters, but that was after I already knew you a little.

I'm rewatching the Lost s3 finale on ABC right now. They've got little pop-up messages which describe what's happened to this point and what's going on and shit, for newcomers. It's quite hilarious. "And now, xxxx is happening!" And then they had little pop-up pictures of the main characters accompanied by mini-descriptions. Amusing.

...I should be studying. ;_; 50 page chapter to read by... tomorrow. How much have I read? 10 pages. Oh dear. But I'm tiiired... and waiting for Torchwood 2.03 to download so I can watch it and bask in the glory that is Captain Jack Harkness.

A. I don't drink pop anymore, for the most part. I stopped most of a decade ago, just to see if I could.

A. Oh, man. Pay off my debt to my mother, for starters.

A. I am not sure I have one in particular.

28) Do you believe in ghosts?
A. I am agnostic; I don't think that they sound very likely, except in ghost stories, where they're certain. But it's hard to tell whether I'm in a ghost story. I'm not the ordinary sort of protagonist for one.

29) Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
A. Hang out on the internet, or read.

30) Do you swear a lot?
A. Not compared to most people, but compared to my friends who are mormons, yes.

31) Biggest pet peeve?
A. Apostrophe misuses, maybe.

A. I honestly can't tell what this question means.
