An hyperventilating a bit. o.o And shit, I'm almost late, gotta run back up the hill to work (am in library right now on laptop on wireless). Eeeeeeeek.

If only I could. Bleh, I've been in more of a Mediterranean mood lately.

I just found a new scar. Looks kind of cool.

Well, seeing that I'm going to Mexico, not the Mediterranean... XD But yeah, the Mediterranean's beautiful. Swum in it briefly last summer when a few of us took a day trip to Ostea (on the coast) from Rome, and I have several memories of swimming in it off the south of France when I was young. You haven't been to France/Italy at all, right? Just Poland a few times when you were young? You should definitely try to see the rest of Europe someday, there's a lot of amazing stuff... I love Italy, especially after the last trip. Rome and Florence just have so much art and architecture and history, it's incredible. Plus, Tuscany is beautiful - I loved being there, possibly more than Rome even though Rome was amazing.

Haha, sorry, I'm not helping, am I? XD But yeah, you should go travelling sometime... tis fun.

Heh, funny. Where is it? I swear I discovered a new mole on my chin the other day.. or maybe I'm going nuts and it was there all along. -_-

It's on the side of my lower arm. About an inch long. I think I got it while moving furniture, but I don't remember.

Yeah, I was watching Raymond a few days ago, and they were showing the 2-parter where they go to Italy. And prior to that, I was watching a Discovery special on Greek architecture. I really like scenery, and Italy just seems so damn peaceful; I'd like to go there and sit on a bench. In my mind I've made up a little trip consisting of Italy, Greece, Sicily, and Crete. Maybe Sardinia too. Would be nice.

Yeah, I've just been to Poland, except if you count the time I spent waiting in an airport in Germany. >.> Other than that, I haven't been much elsewhere; just Washington and Los Angeles. Kind of sad. :\ Every time I'm in Europe I inevitably end up going to Poland; family and all. :\

Heh, Italy is at times peaceful and at times completely insane. Depends on where you are. ;p I'd like to see Greece, too - never been there. Ditto with the others. You should check out France too, though - it's definitely worth it. Especially Paris and the south (Provence, the Riviera, etc).

What's Poland like, anyway? Never been there, and have to admit that I don't know much about it. Did you spend much time going to the main cities/sites/museums/etc? I don't really know anything about the culture there... And other than some of the important 20th century stuff, I don't know anything about its history, either. Hm.

I wanna go with friends, actually. France is interesting too, but it's such a huge country that it's really a stand-alone vacation itself, in my opinion.

Poland is.. I dunno. Architecturally, there are a lot of cathedrals, churches, castles, and really medieval towns; they've preserved it really well. There is also a lot of WWII sites (I visited a concentration camp, for example). But if I think of the country, there are no distinguishing images that come to mind (eg: Eiffel Tower of France; white marble buildings of Greece). Nevertheless, there's a lot to see and do. I think I would appreciate it more, now that I'm older.

As for culture. It's hard for me to say, because I've actually lived there for a month, so it was just..normal, you know? People are generally a lot more religious than they are here, but that only really applies to the older generations (like with just about everywhere else).

The Wikipedia article is pretty thorough if you're bored enough.

Well, so is Italy, really. I spent 6-7 weeks touring around France in 95, but otoh I spent 6 weeks in Italy too. :) Though granted that was just staying in 2 places, we didn't go travelling around and we were seeing everything in Florence and Rome (and slowly, since we were also being lectured at each site). But you can see the highlights of France and Italy pretty quickly - we've done much shorter trips and still seen quite a bit. Depends on what you want to see in France... there certainly is plenty if you wanted to make a single long trip out of it.

Might check out the article later... curious about what there is in terms of art and culture and such. But SPN is on right now, and it's the "SPN does Oz" episode, as I like to call it. XD *goes to watch and make bad jokes about Dean being thrown in the Hole*

We should make it a point to go somewhere next summer or something.

As for art and culture, quite a bit, I think. Though I don't know too much about the subject. We'd have probably thought that the Sun revolved around the Earth for a few hundred years more if it weren't for Poland, or something. I'm sure someone else would have figured it out eventually. >.>

Yeah, we'll see...

Wasn't that Galileo? And wasn't he Italian? XD Or maybe I'm wrong... anyway, yeah, I'm sure there's lots of culture and history and stuff there, and I'll have to look it up sometime.

Copernicus came up with the theory that the Earth revolves around the sun, the planet order up to Jupiter, and other various things, such as the motions of heavenly bodies. He developed our current model of the solar system, and explained it mathematically. His work is marked as revolutionay, and it influenced the works of future scientists such as Galileo.

See, that teaches me to make uniformed statements about scientific history to a scientist. XD XD Looked him up and indeed he was Polish... well, go you guys. ;) I had heard of him, I'd just forgotten who actually came up with that theory. My mind tends to just go to Galileo since I hear about him so often... heh. But of course, that's why they call it the Copernican Model or whatever. :)

I mean uninformed *eyeroll* Haha, "uniformed statements", not sure what that would be. ^^;

Well, to be fair, it was Galileo's refined telescopes that, for the first time, provided concrete evidence that supported Copernicus's theories, even though said evidence was discarded by the Church and Inquisition for a while, I think. But such is often the case with science: Where one guy comes up with theories that cannot be proven or disproven until future technological advancements.
