Drive was shiny. I enjoyed watching Nathan Fillion be all badass. Memories of Mal. XD Most of the characters were at least filled out a bit, and I like several of them. It was well shot, had remarkable special effects (all the car scenes are done with a green screen), good writing, and was entertaining and exciting. I'm happy, and looking forward to third ep tomorrow at 8. :)

Now off to finish watching ep3 of Friday Night Lights, which I am quite enjoying so far. I wasn't sure about it at first because football=yawn, but I've heard very good things about it and ultimately it really is about a lot more than football. It's very well done, well acted and well written. Really love the direction style, and the music is excellent and adds to the feel of the show. It's nice to see a high school drama done right...

can you tell me what happened during the first, I dunno, 30 minutes? ;p I haven't watched it yet but I didn't remember to start the PVR until then. I'm not sure it's worth watching 30 minutes in. Will I even get it?

Yeah, you'll be fine. Lesse, first 30 min... umm... well, we're introduced to our main character, Alex Tully (Nathan Fillion), whose wife has been kidnapped. We're then introduced quickly to two other characters, Wendy, who has just given birth, and Winston Salazar, who has just been released from prison. All three of them are given cell phones from various sources, and suddenly the phone rings and tells them to drive to Key West (I think), Florida. Alex arrives at the hotel there late, and the 'orientation' has just finished. He talks to the man there and learns that he's been recruited for an illegal cross-country race. He'll receive clues on the cell phone and use them to get to each checkpoint. It's strongly suggested that he will find his wife at the end of the race. The first prize is $32 million. The race is on.

We see all the people/groups leaving the hotel and starting to drive, and are introduced to several other groups (a father and a daughter, 3 young women, and um... think that was it for now, though I could be forgetting someone). Now, the next stuff I THINK happens within the first half hour, but if not I apologize if I spoil anything.

First, Alex is run off the road by a creepy guy who then comes toward him with a gun. A girl jumps out of the back of Alex's tow-truck and gets in with him and tells him to drive - they get the heck out of there and the guy with the gun gets back in his car and chases them. I honestly don't recall how much we know about him at that point, but I think we know at least that he is after the girl (Carina or something) for some reason.

Meanwhile, Winston is trying to get money from his dad who refuses to give it to him, so Winston goes to his dad's house and steals some stuff. There he is confronted by his brother Sean (Shaun?) who didn't know that he has a brother who was in prison. After some gun waving and general freaking out, Winston tells him about the race, and they join up.

And, I think that's about it. I hope that stuff all happened in the first half hour and I didn't spoil anything. ^^ If I did, sorry. But that should get you fairly well caught up. They're now all on their way to the first checkpoint.
