I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

You around? You think you could email me a download link to tonight's Supernatural from an LJ community? My reception isn't getting along with the wind today at all.

Er, nevermind. Think I found one.

Mmkay. Good, cuz it's against the rules and rude to share links from those comms, so I wouldn't have done it anyway. ;) Would upload my copy of it at 10, but my reception's shit too, and it keeps skipping, so...

Btw, if you ever want to join one of those but can't because of lack of posts/communities joined/etc and I'm a member, then I'll vouch for you... just don't break the rules after I do so. ;)

And it's terrible to say, but... I'm not even sure if I'm gonna watch right now... having trouble getting interested, even though I know it's a Big Important Sweeps Arc Episode. Am more interesting in reading fakenews fic. And watching Youtube clips of Keith Olbermann (wtf we don't get MSNBC, fuck you Shaw).

...Totally not paying attention. Keeps skipping, too. Will go download it myself... le sigh. If you still need it, I'll reupload whatever I download.

(why not use BT, btw? seems easiest if you're not a member of the DL comms)

Just how windy is it down there, anyway? It's funny; it's not that bad up here... but I heard it was very rough on the water today (new water taxi had to cancel some runs) and obviously it's affecting both our cable reception... prob explains why my Internet is so freaking slow tonight, too.

Gonna go watch The Office, which is currently recording. Hopefully the reception will be better than SPN... they're doing a road trip to Canada episode - awesome. Michael Scott goes to Canada... I'm kinda terrified by the thought.

I heard the wind speeds got up to around 75 km/h in the morning in some parts of the Lower Mainland. There were some downed branches, as expected, but nothing out of the ordinary. Of course some TV channels are fucked, though.

The worst thing really, was that it was also cold out, so the wind didn't help. I think it was more windy at UBC, which made my trips between classes a whole lot less pleasant.

Yikes, didn't seem that bad up here - fucking freezing, but sunny and fairly calm. Course, I was inside almost all day, so... who knows?

Oh god, yeah, UBC in the winter is fucking freezing and windy. Least it was clear today - running across campus between classes in freezing rain and wind without an umbrella, and carrying a heavy backpack, now that's fun. ;) (okay, I had an umbrella in 3rd year - poor thing took a hell of a beating). Couldn't quite believe how cold it seemed today, anyhow - walked down to get some dinner tonight, it's like a 3-5 minute walk each way tops, and it was bloody cold. Yeesh. Least when I was in Ontario I really dressed for it and was prepared... plus it was a dry cold rather than our damp cold - oddly not as bad, even when it was downwards of -20. Course, didn't spend much time outdoors ('cept for that memorable time trekking through the snow in -10 or so weather trying to find a fucking bus because the pet store was closed and I didn't get my fish. Woe.).

...um, anyway. rambling. Office now. *goes to watch*

Yeah I carry around a mini-umbrella attached to my bag, so it's with me all the time. I had to go out and buy new shoes though, since my old pair soaked completely through (on multiple occasions).

But yeah, it's really the wind chills that are the problem. :\

Ah, so I'm not the only one having reception issues then.

If it's hosted on Megaupload or Rapidshare (or any other such site) then there's no way for them to find out that you distributed links. Private servers on the other hand.. Well they still wouldn't know it was you, but their bandwidth would be raped. Not as if that's gonna stop people, though.

Yeah, I tried BT first, but I didn't connect to a good swarm and I didn't feel like fucking with it or waiting for it to pick up, so I went ahead and found the same file hosted on Megaupload instead.

Yay, 95%.

I know, but I don't like doing it anyway because it's common courtesy not to do so. I honestly never entirely understood why it's not okay for a MU/RS/etc upload, but still, the uploader did take the time to upload it, so... anyway, glad you found one. I would've found a way to get one to you if need be, don't worry. ;) I could prob just ask permission of an individual uploader of an MU file and they'd be okay with it.

Holy crap, 95%? That was fast! And to think, my Internet is fucking inching along... I'm downloading an old episode of The Colbert Report with Anderson Cooper as the guest and dammit it started fast then dipped quickly. Woe. *goes off to read more porn about them, instead* *feels dirtybadwrong* *does not care*

lol This is the Internet. You're probably the only one not sharing those links. :p

Yeah, I generally max out Megaupload's free user download speed, at around 400 kB/s. BT and IRC provide ludicrous speeds -- 0.700-1 MB/s+. But I have the XTREME-1 Internet package, so that's why. Only $10 more than the standard High-Speed, so I figured why the hell not.

The CW has an atrocious watermark. It's practically in the middle of the fucking picture. Either that, or the episode capper is a retard.

Good to hear. I'll watch it tomorrow or something. Just finished watching my NBC Thursday night of amusement (The Office, 30 Rock - the latter guest starring Jennifer Aniston tonight....). Now back to Youtube and fic. Ehehehe. *headdesk*

Fuck that. Broken Sam is awesome, and he's in like, most of the episode.

Yay Broken!Sam. :)

(The Office was pretty sweet, though - but I confess I was hoping for more bad Canada jokes, lol. I get an odd kick out of it when American shows parody us, esp by parodying their own views of us. They didn't really dwell on the Canada part though, oh well.)

That reminds me of this old sitcom called "An American in Canada" (or something). It was about a high-profile US news reporter being transferred to a backwater cable station in Toronto (I think) where it was typically Canadian--freezing temperatures, snow, polite coworkers, etc. It made quite a bit of jokes about both cultures and countries. I never really followed the show, though.

Broken Sam with rough sex thrown into the mix.

Does that make you want to watch it more now? ;p

Speaking of bad Canada/US jokes, you really need to see Canadian Bacon, if you haven't. The following reasons indisputably make this movie a must-see:

a) It has John Candy in it. This should be reason enough alone. The man is a legend.

b) It's a classic.

c) It's funny.

d) It has John Candy in it.

e) John Candy.

Lol never heard of that... amusing. We Canadians have a long and fine upstanding tradition of mocking ourselves and being mocked by others. ;)

...okay, see now, that's just MEAN.

Still gonna wait til tomorrow, though...

(anyway, it's more fun when it's Broken!Sam having sex with Dean... ahem.)

Ooh Jon Stewart's on in 15 minutes, sweet. Bill O'Reilly's his guest tonight - oughta be amusing in a kinda terrifying way. Will prob wait and watch tomorrow, though... tired. And watching The Daily Show/Colbert Report every morning and at lunch on my TiVo is becoming a grand tradition.

LOL.. Was looking for clips about the show I mentioned and found this--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4EDZNlTPpg (I hope some of that isn't real though.)

Yeah I know. I'm great at being mean.

ROFL brilliant.

Though check out the comments - terrifying, eh? Bunch of people whining that of course they don't know much about Canada, cuz we're insignificant! And that the things people were saying were just honest mistakes, they could happen to anyone!

...seriously, national igloo? 20 hour clock?? What planet are these people on? That's not an honest mistake, that's just idiocy.

And people wonder why we get annoyed at ignorant Americans... there's being underinformed and then there's just being dumb.

Awesome kid, though - "What a second, Canada has provinces!" Yay kid.

I have another one about Australia, but I've probably shown that to you, no?

The sad thing was Bush. I mean, ok--It's Bush, but still; the guy knows Chretien for crying out loud. Though I'll grant that it was a really inconvenient time to ask him--he probably heard "Prime Minister" and "Canada" (selective hearing, etc).

I'd like to know how many people they interviewed, because after all, they could have interviewed 400 people and only shown the 30 or so stupid ones. An undercover camera would also probably help, since when you put someone in front of a camera and give them a microphone, you can pretty much get them to do or say anything. >.> Though it would be unethical to film them without their consent.
