FF ramblings

I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

...of course, I'm at work now, so I can't really talk. *grin* What can I say? Boss is away, it's flipping HOT outside, the door's open so we can see otuside to the tempting sun and warmth, and I'm going to the beach after work. And it's dead in here. Ergo, bored out of my flipping skull. We're just sitting here surfing the web. SO BORED. Do not want to do any work. Want to get the fuck out of here and enjoy the first really hot day we've had since, like, last August. *cries*

Least I have the little doodle I did of Tony Stark yesterday (at work) sitting under my monitor to distract me. *stares* *wants to draw more* *wills people not to come in to, god forbid, take out money* I've already opened 2 flipping accounts today, wtf. But it's dead now.

...okay, I realize it's all kinda hypocritcal. *grin*

I managed to waste a good 10 minutes balancing my cash and rolling coin - like to make sure I'm balanced every once in awhile during the day, so that I won't have as much trouble at the end of the day.

The sun's disappearing. I'm not impressed. I've got beach plans! :(

You're nuts. ;) It was fucking amazing today... I spent most of the day inside staring outside. Went to the beach after work, and even at 6:30 it was warm enough to swim... though the water would prob be too cold. Was after about 30 min, though, even in t-shirt and shorts. So yeah, nice for short bursts, but then need to get inside or into shade. ^^ It'll be nice when I can swim, though, so I can get nice and hot then go swimming. This is the first day I've been genuinely hot outside in fucking ages, gah. SO sick of this bullshit "snowing in April" weather. Wtf??

Sweet, we won? Co-worker spent all afternoon checking the score online. Last I heard it was 5-4 for Canada with only about 5 min to go... so yay.

Yeah, I always play when the jackpot is awesome.

It's 25.5C here and very uncomfortable. I prefer it to be cool because then it's easier to regulate body temperature. When it's hot, there's pretty much nothing you can do short of going swimming. And after that's over, you're still fucked.

Yeah, Canada beat Sweden 5-4. It was an excellent game. The final game should be really entertaining. Canada always seems to win these things (go stereotype perpetuation~).

Yeah, granted your apartment is usually absurdly hot... My place is nice and cool, as is the branch, as is my parents' place where I am right now. It's pleasant outside right now, though - cooler than earlier, but still warm. Lay in the hammock in our garden for awhile. Mmm, now that's the life. :) I'm just lovin' be able to wear shorts. I'm fucking freezing for about 75% of the year in this godforsaken part of the world, and spend most of the winter wrapped in a blanket and heat pad, even with the heat on. So yeah. Warmth at last is god. Don't like it if I'm stuck out in it ie. when travelling (still haven't forgotten Kyoto... fuck that was hot). But when I can sit outside for awhile to enjoy it, then go inside, the it's nice. ^^

Woo, go Canada. K. as very bitter that he was stuck at work while the game was on. *grin* We joked that we should bring a TV and set it up outisde under the tent - new promotioial tool, lol. Get like a 50-metre cable or something ridiculous to run from my place to the office. Would be sweet. ;)

Kevin could've probably watched the game streamed online somewhere. A friend uses a free service called Sopcast to watch online in order to bypass PPV, but they also air free games.

The sun is directly on us right now, so I'm not surprised that it's really hot. *wonders why lamp is on..*

He tried, but our computers suck and he would've had to download some software to get it to work, and we're not allowed to download stuff to the computers (and they'd know, cuz they're remote desktops...)

Heh, yeah. You got a fan, at least? I'm downstairs with a . fan on, and frankly I'm borderline chilly.. might turn it off.

Probably because you're in the basement and those usually don't have any insulation. Also, hot air goes up.

Nah,can't download anything. As I said, they're just remote desktops - we just have little clients in the office, not proper computers, so we really can't/aren't supposed to do much with them. And I dunno if they're watching or not... ^^;
