I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

Maybe I'll stop by tomorrow between 12:30-1:00 pm.

None of the games I really want are easy to find, or even sold on this continent. :\ The Used Games store might have one of the two localized ones (Ico and VP1), but it's doubtful. Maybe I should e-mail them again.

I don't really know what I want. Maybe I can take the money and import something from Japan again, but it'll be around $30. >.>

I work tomorrow... tomorrow evening good?

Can you play stuff from Japan on your PS2? Is it modded?

And yeah, I know... I'm always on the lookout for VP1, but never see it. ^^ I check Ebay occasionally out of curiousity; it usually goes for about $150. Here's an auction currently at $36... http://cgi.ebay.ca/Valkyrie-Profile-Playstation_W0QQitemZ300194695208QQihZ020QQcategoryZ62053QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I'll put it in my watch list, but it's got 3 more days and it'll probably skyrocket. ^^; Ooh, this one's only $99 USD + $9.99 USD shipping... for buy it now. Not bad, relatively speaking. I'll chip in 25 bucks if you want. :)

Ah, I thought you were staying down until Thursday. Evening will work.

My PS2 isn't modded. I wouldn't mod it anyway. I'd buy the Swap Magic 3 bootdisks which allow you to play JP/PAL games without performing surgery on your console.

VP1's value went down a whole lot because of the PSP port. I wouldn't spend much on it though, which is why I'm hoping to find it in some naive store. But if that $36 one doesn't skyrocket, then hey, why not.

Ahh. I didn't know you could do that...

Really? It still seems pretty steep. Maybe not as much as it used to be, though... and I doubt that $36 one won't skyrocket, honestly, but we'll see. I'll watch it. :) But even if it's lowish at the end, the final bidding moments can make it go way up if someone's got a high maximum bid. You'll have to tell me how high you're willing to pay, minus ~$25 from me. :)

Probably no more than $60. There's shipping on top of that too. We'll see how it goes and I'll call the shots on the last day (Thursday?).

Sure thing. I'll let you know how it's going... There's another one, ending in 5 days, for $29 or something. I'll watch it too.

I've heard people say they got it for $13, $3, and so forth in brick & mortar stores. Lucky. >.>

If I actually got a copy I probably wouldn't even play it (laugh). First thing I'd probably do is offer to see if you want to play it, but judging by your backlog, I'm thinking I'd hear a "no." >.>

Lol, I was wondering if you'd want to play it... oh wells, it's the principal of it, I know. :) And yeah, thanks - maybe someday. ^^;

I've already played through it, maybe 4 times, on the emulator. So I don't really have any incentive to play through it again, save for perhaps wanting to go through it on a TV. But meh, I'd probably just put it in my box, next to VP2.

Yeah, sadly I actually understand the urge to put things in their boxes next to other things in the same series. And with the same versions and whatnot, when it comes to books/DVDs. ^^;

It's a trap. Put a number next to something and all of a sudden every obsessive person out there is all buy buy buy.

It's so annoying to have a collection start at #2. :|

Lol, I totally get it. XD I love having collections.. I occasionally like to just stare at my pretty pretty DVD collections...

I'm a freak. ;_;

Are the prices high enough to make me give up yet?

Lesse, one ended at $81 which isn't bad - sorry, didn't realize it was ending. One's at $41 right now and has 2 days left. I'll try to remember to watch that one; there are a few others like it, too, I think. Does $81 minus the $25 work for you? You said you're willing to pay $60, right? So that means $85 is approx the highest we can go?

Thanks for checking.

Ah, no. I meant $60 including the ~$25 from you. I don't really want to spend too much on a collector's item. :\ Chances are slim, I know, but who knows? Maybe we'll get lucky. If not, then I'll just order something from Japan again.
