I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

Friday is my last day of exams. I have two science ones this Monday and I'm not happy about it.

We should see a movie when you have the time. I want to see 'The Fountain'; it looks pretty. That or Borat, if it's still playing.

Ew, that sucks. So you're the one that should be studying. XD Good luck..

Definitely. Will prob do movie for my birthday. I'd like to see Borat, too. Will have to read up on the Fountain to decide about it.

They were very inconsiderate when structuring the exam schedule this semester. For second-year science students of biology and chemistry (they usually go together, so..) Monday is Microbiology, Tuesday is Organic Chemistry, and Wednesday is Cell Biology. There is no conceivable way to prepare well-enough for all three exams to do well on them, unless you started at the beginning of November. And even then if you did start back then, there would have been other obligations which would have kept you from doing so. Lab finals were also last (Nov. 27-onward) so any free time would have been spent preparing for those.

This semester is just a GPA-slaughterer for many science students. In my opinion, it's grounds for complaint.

The Fountain is a fantasy/Sci-Fi movie, I think; I dunno. Just from the commercials it looks very pretty. Watch a trailer.

Shit, yeah, that's ridiculous... no matter how good or studious one is, there's no way to do that. How many exams do you have? Do you have all three of those? o.o

Just watched the trailer. Looks... potentially intriguing (and indeed pretty), but I've heard the plot is confusing and badly put together. Maybe though, I'll see. Looks like it'd be entertaining, at least.

No, just Microbiology and a first-year chemistry course (needed a refresher; been out of chemistry for way too long). But I do have a Cognitive Psychology exam on Friday and that's over 350 pages of material right there. Again, because of the two exams on Monday, I'm fucked for the psychology exam. I hate saying it, but it's just not fair.

Bleh, shame that the plot is badly put together. Maybe it isn't that bad, though. Oh well, at least there's the eye-candy.

gah, I had a reply written to this then accidentally erased it...

Anyway, vaguely confused now - do you mean this Monday or next? I thought you meant this Monday, but in retrospect that doesn't make sense based on what you said.

I've read a couple of reviews, and I gather that it's visually amazing and does a good job invoking the emotions, and that you just have to refrain from dissecting the plot. ^^ Supposed to be pretty good, I think, overall.

Oh yeah, and a note about my b-day - I thought of a present that I want... geeky, but simple and cheap: the first issue of the new Prison Break official magazine, which I saw at a magazine stand the other day. :) $10, so I couldn't justify buying it right now, but thought it'd make a good present. Plus, then you can read it before you give it to me. XD

While I don't understand the confusion, I mean the two exams are this Monday (Dec 4), followed by a psychology exam on Friday Dec 8. The Organic exam is on Tuesday (Dec 5) and the Cell exam is on Wednesday (Dec 6), but the latter two are irrelevant to me because I'm not taking them, yet.

Okay, so I was right. I was just confused when you said that you couldn't study for your Friday one because of the Monday ones - since you'll be finished both of those on Monday, won't you have 3 days to study only for the Friday one? The Monday ones sound like the most problematic. ^^

Yeah, I could study for the Friday one, but I mean, 4 days isn't enough time to prepare. It's just a sheer overload. I mean, how am I supposed to read and roughly memorize over 350 pages of stuff? :|

Yeah, but at least the first 2 will be out of the way. Isn't it harder to prepare for two heavy exams on one day, right after the end of term? Anyway, yeah, either way that's pretty nasty.

And I just realized that you'd replied to my comment on your journal last week, about 'Eureka', and I never got notification... will reply to that soonish.

You're right: it is harder to prepare for two heavy exams in one day. The psychology exam itself shouldn't be a big deal, but because it's in such close proximity to the two exams on Monday, it makes it that much more difficult to prepare for - difficult enough that either way I go about it, I won't be adequately prepared.

Eureka owns.
