I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

Probably underneath it. Cats can tuck in their legs like that. It also has long hair so you can't see well.

That's what I figured... but at first glimpse it looks like it has no legs. o.o

We're over 100 now... XD We should work towards 150.

I caught 100 yesterday. Why stop at 150? I had 200 in mind. And even if we reach 200, I still won't be satisfied.

Yeah, I noticed. XD Well, we'll just keep going... we need a new topic. Hm. And maybe from now on you should reply to all new posts in this post. ;p

Okay, for something to do... here's a preview of my picspam. :) Just a few images, ones that I like but that aren't my favourites because I'm saving those. I'm finding so many gorgeous shots.. this show is so beautifully filmed.

And... cartoons!

More to come... eventually. There are going to be some pretty freaking weird images - there's some crazy shit on this show. Don't expect some of them to make any logical sense whatsoever without knowing the context. XD But they're damned fun, so I'm including them.

That last one raises an eyebrow. The last time I recall TV/movies using that effect was like..back in the 90's.

Heh, don't worry, it's only one episode. XD It fits into the storyline though, and actually makes sense/is used to explore John's mind/character. And it's a heck of a lot of fun in the meantime. :) FS did a few weird things like that, but they were always for the sake of character/plot development and were never just for the sake of experimentation. Like the Buffy musical. And heh, an FS musical would've been fucking insane... they should've done that. ^^

I'm getting a tad concerned that the pictures I've chosen are too spoilery... I dunno, out of context they don't make sense/aren't really spoilers, but some of them are from major scenes and therefore are on some level spoilers. Is that okay? I mean, honestly without knowing the context they won't make a jot of sense anyway and I don't think they actually give anything about the plot away (at least, if you just accept the insanity of some of them and try not to figure them out. XD). Otoh, I'm covering all four seasons, so... anyway, let me know if that's okay or if you want me to cut out some pictures of the more important scenes.

The only image in that set that I found to be a spoiler is the middle one, but even so, without the context it wasn't a big deal.

I don't care which pictures you post, but it would kind of suck if I see one (and don't understand it) but it lets me piece together spoilers for future arcs while learning about characters and over-arching plots when watching the early seasons.

There were four pictures, which one's the middle? XD The John/Aeryn one? Sorry, I honestly didn't think that J/A was considered a spoiler, even if you haven't seen the show. ^^ I knew about them long before I'd actually watched it.

Yeah, that's what I'm concerned about. Though really, unless you actually go back and look at them while watching, you probably won't remember the details... anyway, I'll try to be careful, I don't want to spoil you. :) Some of them actually look more like spoilers than they really are, the show's just odd like that. XD Take everything with a grain of salt... at least a few of them are from hallucinations/dreams/etc.

I'm vaguely thinking I should put them out of order - then you can't put together any kind of narrative progression... though I might also create one in order, because I want to link to it at [livejournal.com profile] farscape_weekly.

Yeah I just used the John/Aeryn one because that one seemed to have the most context surrounding it, and not that I necessarily find it a spoiler. Like if they get together in season 4 or something but they hate each other all the way up until then, then that could be a considered as spoiler. But honestly I don't really care unless you pull an Official FFVII Guide-type spoiler. ;p

Date: 2006-11-24 03:42 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ria-oaks.livejournal.com
Definitely no Official FFVII Guide-type spoilers here. XD Don't worry, I'd never post a picture that obviously showed character death or something, heh.

Yeah, that would be a spoiler... I won't say when they get together or anything - maybe I should put the pictures out of order, then? Because I've got a few J/A ones, and if they're in order it gives at least some indication of the progression of their relationship.

You double posted?

Yeah, random order would be best, I think.

Oh sorry, my internet's been acting up and it's hard to tell when things have posted.. I'll delete it so it doesn't skew our total. XD

Okay, random order it is...

Look what I did to my journal. Yeah, I'm bored.

I also put a link to this thread in my Links List. :o

O.O That's pretty freaking awesome. But... pink? Never would've guessed it. XD XD

Is it one of the default ones? Because I thought you couldn't change it like that without a paid account?

Lol, so I see. ;p Didn't you used to have more links?

And dude, you haven't posted since August 2nd? ^^;

Date: 2006-11-24 04:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bk635.livejournal.com
The pink is the default. I chose it because it would weird out...pretty much anyone who knows me. I don't know if I'll keep it..haha Maybe I'll tinker around with it later and make something more serious. I just added some more textual changes.

And yeah, that's one of the default ones. They added a lot more features, themes, and styles.

Yeah I know, I don't have anything to post. I'm a boring individual.

See, the only thing I can't figure out is how to add the "Previous xamount Entries" link to my Friend's Page. It's at the bottom of my Journal page, though. The link disappeared with my old style which prompted me to mess around with the settings, and well, this is the result.

And yeah, I had more links, but I got rid of them a long time ago.

Is the cat a default theme? Because I don't see anything like that... I only see a short list of layouts available.

Date: 2006-11-24 05:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bk635.livejournal.com
It's the 'Cuteness Attack' theme, and the cat header is the default. You can then change its face, but I can't find an option to remove the cat completely. You're most likely going to have to do a little CSS editing to get rid of it.

If the fixed background/scrolling journal entries is what's interesting you, then try out different layouts because some may also have that feature. Mess around with yours too!

And I thought the list was pretty long. ;p

Yes it is. And it's not fair that I can't seem to access those layouts. ;__; Stupid LJ.

Here, right? http://www.livejournal.com/customize/style.bml

That's..strange. Try changing your style system (http://www.livejournal.com/customize/) to S2 if you have it at S1, and see if that makes a difference.

Date: 2006-11-25 03:06 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ria-oaks.livejournal.com
Huh, changing it to S2 worked! Go figure... I thought that would result in fewer options. XD

Date: 2006-11-25 04:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bk635.livejournal.com
Yeah, S1 is generally reserved for those that like to custom-tailor their journals to specifications more thorough than those offered with pre-made styles, but it usually requires knowledge of HTML and CSS, I think.
