[livejournal.com profile] bronzejarith - what kind of stuff did you get for question #1 on the Astro homework? I sketched out a simple draft, but it seems very basic and I couldn't thinking of anything particularly enlightening or detailed. Any idea how much detail he wants or how big it's supposed to be? Also, do you want to compare answers for the conversion questions? I think I got the answers, but I'm uncertain about b. I got car #1 going at 88.55 km/h, and car #2 going at 600.46 km/h, which... doesn't seem quite right. ^^ Also, on c. I have student #1 at 70 kg and student #2 at 5019 kg, which, erm, also seems a bit off. Heh. ^^;; What did you get for those? How did you do them?

Sure, thanks. ^_^ I realized working on this last night how little math I remember... ehehe.

Okay, #3 b. - "Which is faster, a car moving 55 miles per hour or a car moving 5.26 x 10^13 millimetres per century?"

And c. "Who is more massive, a student that weighs 0.070 metric tonnes or a student that weighs 3 x 10^28 times the mass of a hydrogen atom?" (mass of a hydrogen atom = 1.673 x 10 ^ -27)

See how inanely stupid this class is? ^^;;

Oi..Those are a headache.. Do they even give you any conversion factors? And what's with the use of the Imperial metric system? So nevermind, I don't think I can do any of these without a list of conversion factors; I only work with SI units. :/

Hmm... yeah, there's a list of conversions at the back. The use of metric system is to make you convert to the other type and such, aka to confuse you and make it harder. Don't worry about it; thanks anyway. ^_^

You mean the Imperial system? We use the metric system in Canada and the rest of the world.. It's the good system. Imperial is messed up. :|

Yeah. I think pretty much only the Americans use Imperial now. ^^ I use it for feet and pounds (don't understand kg at all when it comes to peoples' weights), but that's about it.
