Smallville 4X01 "Crusade"

ria_oaksNon-spoilery, exceedingly shallow, Smallville 4X01 comments:
- First shot of Clark: naked.
- Second shot of Clark: covered in blanket. Then naked.
- Third shot of Clark: Clothed. Briefly.
- Various other shots throughout episode: Naked. A lot. And shirtless.
Conclusion: a. I forgot how damned hot Tom Welling is. b. the only proper way to start a season of Smallville is to Have Clark Kent Naked. Especially in his first scene. I was amused.
- While we're on the subject of nakedness, we have Half-Naked Michael Rosenbaum with sweat running down his bare chest. Mm, Naked Lex...
- And, finally, we have Naked Kristin Kreuk In The Shower. Almost as hot as the previous Lana Stripping For Clark At The Pool scene.
Conclusion: Much nakedness to be seen in this episode. Also, I am shallow. Weee! ^_^
Hah, knew Chloe wasn't dead. How did I know this? Cause there's a s4 promo pic of her. :P Though was getting v. worried towards end of episode when we saw her grave. Can't help but wonder, though - why exactly did Clark suddenly think "I'm going to use my x-ray vision to look into her grave!"? Morbid, much? And how does he expect to explain this to Lois? "Omg, Lois, Chloe's not dead!" "What? Her grave's right there!" "But I just looked into it with my x-ray vision and there's no body!" "... ... ... are you sure you're completely recovered?" "It's true! Really!" "Ya huh, that's nice."
Just sayin'...
On the topic of Lois - all things considered, I like her well enough so far. Not being a Superman fan at all I have no frame of reference for who she is in the comics/movies/etc, so I can only go based on what I see of her here. I find her oddly reminiscent of Chloe, actually - she acts quite a bit like her, and she even looks like her a bit. I do wonder, though, if Erica Durance isn't playing the role a bit over the top. It seemed like she was over-acting a bit, and it made Lois rather irritating at times. Even so, I thought she did a pretty good job and I'm going to hold judgement until I see more of her. So far she's pretty cool. ^_^
Hm, again I know next to nothing about Superman, but doesn't the original Lex wear a white suit? I think? Cause if so, I was finding it rather interesting how that's what he was wearing at the beginning of the episode. It'll certainly be interesting to see where Lex goes this season, now that him and Clark are estranged and he's steadily falling farther into darkness... ;_;
Random note: Lionel looks so different with short hair. ^^ Well, not really, but it's a strange change to adjust to. Wonder what John Glover's feelings on having to shave his hair off were? ;P
Other random note: Was bitter during Paris scenes because Dad almost rented art to Smallville for "an art school in Paris". Damn. ;_; And I never did get those TW and MR autographs... *bitter sigh*
Jason - so far I don't mind him. I haven't kept up with SV news at all over the summer, so I didn't even know about him. And I'm not a particularly die-hard Clana shipper. Actually, I'm sick to death of it. I mean, I sort of want them to get together, but after 3 seasons of near-misses and misunderstandings and "I love you, Lana, but I can't tell you my great t00by secret about how I'm an alien with superpowers so I can't be with you!", I'm just tired to them and want them to either get together or stop dancing around the bloody subject. Good, give Lana a (hopefully) nice, normal boyfriend, and leave off on the Clana stuff... And that said, I really don't like how the promo is setting up for a Clark/Lois/Lana triangle - it seems so contrived and it's happened so many times in different incarnations on this show.
Clark flying! Wee! And really cheap explanation for why he's not going to fly anymore! "Kal-El can fly. Clark Kent remains on the ground." MK: KILL. I want to see Clark fly more... with tights. And a cape. *ahem* Besides, one of the main promo pics for the season is a shirtless, ridiculously air-brushed, Clark flying. It's purdy. ;P
Let's see, speaking of Kal-El. V. cool, but I agree with comments I've read online that they wrapped that up too quickly, and there was not enough attention paid to what happened to him. I suppose we'll find out more about it in later episodes; I'm very curious to see what will happen re: Kal-El and Jor-El, because I sincerely doubt that Jor-El will leave it at that...
Yay, Jonathan's alive. Was worried there for awhile; I've always really liked Jonathan. And I've always thought he's pretty hot... *cough*
Poor Martha. I really felt for her when she was in the hospital and she first saw Clark and she ran after him. And then she saved him. ^_^ Yay Martha. And on an off- note, I'm still amused by the s4 promo pic of her - she is totally, almost ridiculously, sexed up. She looks really nice, but it's still funny. ^^ Anyway, she definitely rocked in this episode - more proof that Martha's the real one running the show. *grins*
Still have no idea what black Kryptonite actually does, once again because of my lack of knowledge of the original. Guess we'll find out later?
Not one mention of Pete the entire episode. Hrmph.
New credits - shiny. But I thought Erica Durance was a main cast member? Was surprised that she wasn't in the credits.
Umm... that's it. Last word: Naked Clark and Lex! *runs away*
Oh, and on utterly OT note - how amused am I that this picture made it into the HP: PoA 2005 calender? A lot. Heh.
