V. V. fast update, since very little time here (as usual. ^^;;)Am in Nara. Arrived today from Mt. Koya, where we stayed overnight in a Buddhist temple. ^_^ Mt. Koya`s evidently one of the most spiritual places in Japan; there are over 2000 temples there (it`s a big plateau, very high up, and very beautiful). We had to get up this morning at 6 to meditate. ^^ Well, really, just sat there and listened to the monks chant... and ate a Japanese breakfast. Then promptly went out and found a place with toast and pancakes. ;P
Lesse, Kyoto was cool but very hot. An INSANE amount of Shinsengumi merchandise and advertisements/posters, evidently b/c of the historical drama on them currently airing. Got some very odd Shinsengumi merchandise, including a jacket like their`s and something very, VERY odd and amusing which I`ll save for when I get home. Other than that, lots of temples. Really, really hot. ^^;; And we went on a walking tour of Gion (the main Geisha district) with a Canadian who lives in Kyoto, which was very interesting. We got to see a few Geishas and Maikos (Geishas-in-training, basically) going off to their appointments!
Better run. Hopefully tomorrow I`ll have more time so I might post more. Hope everyone at home is doing well. ^_^
