Fucking god-damned Resnet...

*sigh* Okay, I received an email this morning from UBC's IT Services (the Internet people) saying that I had performed an "unauthorized scan on the network." And I'm like, wtf? -_- They said to remove ShareScan if I had it, which I don't, and frankly I don't know what other programs may have caused this. They said to run a virus check on my computer in case a hacker was remotely using my computer to do such. Waiting for Norton to finish scanning, it hasn't found anything so far. And if another scan in performed and they haven't heard from me then they're cutting off my Resnet. Oh fucking goodie. *glare*

Any thoughts? Anyone know wtf might be wrong? When I get back from class I'm going to run the various other programs they mentioned... Barring that, I'll go to ITServices and yell at them. Again. God-dammit, I'm sick of going to that fucking place. *sigh*

FFXII trailer! Shiny!

Squee! The first Final Fantasy XII trailer is out! ^_^ It's only 2 minutes long, but looks pretty cool... The game's supposed to be released in Japan this summer, but I'm betting on this fall... ^^ Still no word on the NA port. *sigh*

Hmm, skimming over some old-ish FFXII articles - forgotten some of this stuff. Hitoshi Sakimoto is doing the music? O.O I'd completely forgotten reading that. Well. I believe that's the first main-series FF game (discounting X-2, etc) that hasn't been done by Uematsu? Rather disappointing, but otoh Sakimoto fucking rocks, so... *grins* Still, it's interesting how many people from the FFTactics team are working on XII - the character designer, one of the guys working on the plot, Sakimoto of course... Not to mention that evidently the world is called Ivalice and the races from FFTA are in it. Well, at least the characters have noses. *smirk*

Also, read in one of them that the battle system is evidently going to be similar to FFX-2 in some ways - wonder if that means job system? Cause that would rock. *g* There hasn't been a job system in the main series since FFV...

Hm, I think it's fully voice-acted, too... wonder what're the chances of them giving us a choice of languages this time? *pray* Or at least better voice acting than FFX... *imagines them hiring Tidus's VA for Vaan* *shudders* The two main characters already look too much like Tidus and Yuna... -_-

That's enough spec for now... go look at the trailer, and pray that XII will get it's ass over the ocean quickly... like, next January would be nice. *g* Or hell, even next fall if the JP one actually gets released in summer...

*stares at what she just wrote in her revised version of her censorship essay for the contest tomorrow* Dear god, I'm talking about fanfiction and slash in an academic essay. Help me. ;_;

I wonder if I should go into other issues... like, what about censorship of ideas considered to be politically unacceptable? Like I heard that Indigo (I think) does not carry Hitler's... how do you spell it? "Mein Kamphf" or something. Anyway, what about things like that? Should fascist and/or communist books be banned, since they are considered by many today to be unacceptable and tyrannous? I'm not sure I want to go into that... I'm trying to relate it to the central issues of today, and the issues of adult content/porn on the web is certainly a hotly debated topic these days. Think I'll just stick with the examples I've used thus far...

*stares at essay again* My god, it's ~2800 words now... it started off ~1800. And technically the appropriate length for essays is supposed to be 1400-1600 words, or so Dr. Sirluck said at the beginning of the year. Hopefully they won't mind. O.O It's 10 pages, double spaced. Well, one of the women in my tutorial has essays about that length, and she uses smaller type, so.. ^^;; Man, I wrote a lot. Changed a lot. Stuck a ton of extra stuff (esp examples) in, cut some stuff out, and revised some other stuff. I think it's a lot better now, but I wish I had time to show it to someone for an opinion... I'd ask Mom, but it's getting pretty late and she has to be up early tomorrow to catch her plane (she's going to Calgary to take her Accounting exam for her MBA... sucks to be her. The exam's on her birthday, too. And shit, I have no clue what to get her. ;_;). Ugh, I have no clue if it's better like I think it is, but I guess I'll just have to live... ^^ Hopefully when I show it to Mom on Friday she won't pale and exclaim "what did you do do the poor thing?" *grins*

Now, just some final revising/editing and then I'm done. 1st place, here I come! *ahem*
