*watchs Smallville s3 premiere* *screams even louder* Holy SHIT. O.O Damn, I think that's a worse cliffhanger than the season 2 finale... course, there would've only been a 1 week wait, not a 3-4 month one. ^^ Or, in my case, approximately 30 minutes since I have to go to dinner before I can watch the next ep... OMG. *stares at screen* How did you stand it, Jane? ;_;

Having many issues with getting the file to work properly, though. Only program I can play it close to properly in is DivX, and the sound is way off the video in it. [livejournal.com profile] bronzejarith tried something to fix it, but no luck. *sigh* I hope the next ones aren't like that; it's very off-putting watching it with the sound ~2 seconds before the video. ^^;;

With the way your compy's lagging for internet and the way mine -isn't-, I'm almost tempted to say it's ram/space. 'cause the application showed that you -do- have the right codecs.

I wonder... hm. I have ~4-5 gigs left; maybe I should try to clear out a bit? I have 368 RAM; do you think that's enough? I had only 112 originally and added some on last years.. don't know if I want to spend the money on getting more.

No, 4-5 gigs is fine, and your ram -should- be ok to play those files. Maybe it's your system health.

Maybe. Is there anything in particular I can do to check? Or it could be a virus; I'll run Norton tonight.

Probably not a virus. Has your opening/closing programs, running multiple programs slowed down significantly?

No, not that I've noticed.

Have you tried a defrag, or checking for system errors?

Haven't done a defrag for a long time... also not sure how to do it/how it works. Do I have to back up my files first?

How do I check for system errors?

No. Just run it. And it's all in your drive's properties.

Okay... cause I have a vague recollection that defragging deleted stuff on your hardrive. So, it's safe enough to do? *goes to poke around system properties*

No, I have no idea what the heck that would be, but defrag just moves around your files to give you more space/better harddrive optimization. But be prepared to leave it on for a -long- time.

You're probably thinking of formatting.

Hm, maybe. ^^ It was a long time ago... well, I'll try it overnight. Thanks.

It'll probably take longer than that . . .

O.o Seriously? Yowch... can I do other stuff on the computer while it's running?

How long does it take to check for system errors?

Umm . . . not quite sure, I've never tried. Theoretically, yes? Though any files you use obviously can't be moved about.

I think you need to restart the compy, and it scans your drive. Maybe 10, probably less. [Depending on your drive.]

Hm. Well, I'll just start the defragging before I go to bed and hope it's almost done in the morning. I can just leave it when I go to class, anyway.

Okay, nice and short, good. ^^ I'll do that in a little while, too.
