Lol I'm so lame tonight... I had a few possible parties to go to, but the truth is I just don't want to do anything at all. Feel kinda guilty and like I should go out, but I've been so lazy today and I don't feel like moving. Just wanna relax at home and watch TV. Guess I'll be ringing in the New Year with Anderson Cooper after all. ^^ I feel like this should disappoint me, but really, I had my New Year's party last night at Fontana's so I'm good with not doing anything tonight. Then tomorrow is the Wii Bowling Tournament at Fontana's, so that'll be fun. Don't need to do anything tonight, and I don't want to stay out too late anyway. If I could drive it might be different, but the thought of getting out and taking the buses and walking is just... ugh. Can't be bothered.

I did finish re-watching Sherlock, though. Yay! Can't wait until s2 tomorrow. The cliffhanger was actually a bit different then I remembered; guess I'd forgotten the details about almost 1.5 years. Didn't seem quite as evil as I thought it was, but that could just be because there's only 1 day left to wait and not an indeterminate amount of time.

Should do an obligatory end of year meme... how about this one.

Your main fandom of the year? Still due South, to my surprise... not as much as last year, in the natural progression of my fannish obsessions, but am still loving the fandom!

Your favorite film watched this year? Hmm... Harry Potter by default. I still have no objective thoughts, really, about that film, and have in fact only seen it the one time in theatres because it was so emotional for me and I don't want to watch it again and not feel the same way. Suppose it wasn't perfect, but overall I thought it was excellent. And it felt so much like the end of an era I just cried through the entire thing...

(honourable mentions go to Thor, Captain America, THE MUPPETS omg so good, and possible Sherlock Holmes 2, which wasn't perfect by any means but was delightfully slashy and a great deal of fun.)

Your favorite book read this year? Haven't read a whole hell of a lot, though I'm trying to be better. Probably The Hunger Games, which I finally read last month.

Your favorite album or song to listen to this year? I'm useless at music questions - I pretty much exclusively listen to fanmixes and songs from TV shows/etc. So no idea.

Your favorite TV show of the year? Currently on the air? I suppose still Supernatural, though I'm a bit meh about it at times these days. Also Community, because I will cry if it gets cancelled. :( And now Fringe, because that was just awesome.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year? Fringe, Hawaii Five-0, Stargate Atlantis. Didn't realy get that fannish about any of them (just read a bit of fic), but enjoyed them all to varying extents.

Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year? Torchwood: Miracle Day definitely gets an honourable mention... also not sure if this counts, but I was really sad that [community profile] yuletart didn't happen this year and that [community profile] lgbtfest is gone (the replacement Queerfest was nifty but not yet as big). Totally understand that these things happen and mods get busy, and I wouldn't have had time for Yuletart anyway, probably, but I'm still sad. :(

Your TV boyfriend of the year? Hm. Still kinda Paul Gross and Callum Keith Rennie tied. ^^ No one really in particular this year, though. Well, possibly Peter Bishop. :) I do miss speed-watching that show, it was much fun.

Your TV girlfriend of the year? Not sure if I have one this year. Huh. Olivia Dunham a little, because she is awesome.

Your biggest squee moment of the year? Hmm... not sure I can decide on this one either. So I will change the question slightly and instead talk about my general most exciting and enjoyable events in fandom this year. This gives me an excuse to send a shout out to all the awesome amazing people at Fontana's, aka my real life fandom community. I love that Vancouver has such a fantastic and tight-knit fan community, and being there in general is full of squee moments for me. Especially Halloween this year - super geeky fannish Halloween party as always, followed by Thrill the World which was incredible. Dressing up as zombie!Starbuck and doing Thriller with 430+ other zombies. Good times.

So yeah, I'm realizing that most of my really great fannish moments now are offline - Fontana's, hanging out with [personal profile] jedinic, [personal profile] flamebyrd, [personal profile] theducks, and [personal profile] quettalinde and watching TV, hanging out with [profile] cerulean_pulsar and watching TV, going to Supernatural Vancon & Stargate Vancon... Still love online fandom lots (need my fic, for starters!), but it's nice to hang out with people in real life. :)

The most missed of your old fandoms? Still have a soft spot for Pundit fandom. Miss being about to watch Keith, since he left MSNBC and I don't get his new network...

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to? Nothing really at the moment, actually. I've caught up on most of the shows I've been meaning to over the years, and now don't have anything particular that I really want to watch. I'm sure something will come up eventually... I do vaguely intend to watch Game of Thrones at some point before season 2 starts.

Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year? Ahh, so much! New season of Sherlock tomorrow! New episodes of White Collar in a few weeks! Pacificon (and Emerald City Comic Con the same weekend)!!! RCW139!! The recently announced FanExpo Vancouver (about fucking time!) in April! THE AVENGERS! THE HOBBIT! (ok it's a year away, but it's still 2012!) The Hunger Games movie! The Dark Knight Rises!! Umm... those are the big ones. And just general hanging out with above mentioned awesome people, watching TV, etc.

And why not, let's have another meme.

1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Learned Thriller and danced it with over 400 people. :)

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Not sure if I made any last year. If so, they were probably along the lines of "get a job" and "exercise more". Fulfilled the former, kind of fulfilled the latter. For next year... well, "exercise more" and "eat better" and that kind of shit apply as always. Also "try to save more money to pay off your credit card". Theoretically get a boyfriend? That would be nice... :( Nah, I don't have any particular or special resolutions this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No one super close to me. My masseuse on Bowen just had her baby on Christmas Day, and she is an awesome awesome person (and masseuse) so I'm really happy for her. But that's about it, unless I'm completely forgetting someone.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No one really close. Closest was an old friend of my dad's who I knew fairly well, so that was quite sad.

5. What countries did you visit?
Just the USA this year (Seattle and Hawaii). Pretty lame, but that's what happens now that I'm working I guess. Might end up in Europe again this coming year, since my parents are planning to live in Paris for a few months. I may meet them and go somewhere for a week or so, but not sure where or if I'll do it at all.

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
...boyfriend? Would be nice, as I said. Getting a bit frustrated at being 26 and never having had a boyfriend.

7. What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
March 4th - day I finally got a job. :) (Canadian) Thanksgiving weekend - Hawaii! Halloween/Thrill the World.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting a job! And then getting myself promoted in three months. Also, learning to crochet.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Eh, nothing really big I don't think. I quit TKD about 2 months after I started which is pretty lame, but it's expensive and I didn't always make it to class. I might still go back in the Spring.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just a couple of colds.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Maybe my new TV? It's growing on me.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Various people... I feel weird naming names, because what about the people I don't name? ^^ Everyone I know has, on the whole, been pretty awesome this year.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Aside from political figures? No one in particular that I actually know.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent. Hawaii. Annoying big expenses like dental stuff, new glasses, furniture.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Hawaii, Halloween/Thrill the World, various TV things probably. Getting a job! That was a good day. Getting promoted - also a good day! I've been doing some of my old job this past week because the guy who replaced me was away for Christmas, and it is pretty boring... am very glad I was able to move up so quickly. Thank god that person left 3 months after I started so I could take her place!

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Nothing particular comes to mind.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier definitely. I have a job and a social life!
ii. thinner or fatter? Same
iii. richer or poorer? Richer. Having a job definitely helps there...

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Draw. Exercise. Update my LJ, because wow I got lazy for awhile there.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Gotta stop eating out so much. It's expensive...

20. How will you spend Christmas?
Spent it on Bowen with family.

21. What LJ users did you meet for the first time?
[profile] chaeche, first when she and some others were up in Vancouver sometime this summer, then again at SPN Vancon. Some other people from [profile] pacific_slash, at Vancon, but I didn't really know them online before I met them IRL.

22. Did you fall in love in 2011?
Nope...

23. How many one-night stands?
None

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Off the air? Still due South. On the air? Supernatural by default I suppose. Also Community, Fringe, Hawaii Five-0.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope

26. What was the best book you read?
Probably The Hunger Games, as I said in the meme above.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
See above meme. My musical knowledge is lame and I mostly listen to fanmixes.

28. What did you want and get?
TV! JOB!

29. What did you want and not get?
...boyfriend? ^^ And a new computer. Next year, once I've paid off my credit card more.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Lol I already answered this above. Harry Potter.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Went to lunch and to Sherlock Holmes 2 with my friends. And 26...

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Hmm, on the whole I've been pretty happy. It's very nice to be feeling more settled and content with life, thanks to having a job and a social life/great friends. I would like some romance though...

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Too many TeeFury t-shirts, at least towards the end of the year. I'm starting to amass quite a few.

34. What kept you sane?
Fandom. Friends, family. Fontana's. Crochet. Having awesome (and some very geeky) co-workers kept me sane at work whenever it was really busy/stressful.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Well, there's still Paul Gross... ;) And Callum.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Hm, I haven't been paying quite as much attention to politics this year as the last couple of years. Watching the Republican candidate race in the States has certainly been entertaining/painful to watch, though. Various awesome developments for gay rights (DADT repeal! Same-sex marriage in New York!). The SOPA act is disturbing as heck, though, and I am very nervously awaiting what will happen with that.

37. Who did you miss?
Old friends from high school who I've drifted from.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
My 2 awesome geeky co-workers (one of whom is my supervisor!). Other co-workers are generally awesome too, but these two get special recognition for being geeky. It's nice having a workplace where our lunch conversations have included my co-worker freaking out while watching BSG while my supervisor and I laugh and nod and go "I KNOW RIGHT?? JUST WAIT UNTIL ___!", my supervisor and I extolling the virtues of Farscape to said co-worker in attempts to make her watch it ("come on, it's got muppets! In SPACE!"), and much giggling over True Blood once they had got me watching it. Definitely makes work more entertaining... Yesterday it was so quiet (and there were only 5 people in the office), that much of the day was spent with my watching them play Scrabble on their iPhones back and forth. Some work theoretically got done too.

Other people... Various awesome people at Fontana's. Various other fannish people. :)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011
It really does help to have awesome friends and a support system/social life - it's great to be getting out at least 1-2 times a week, either to Fontana's or to hang out with other friends, since the past few years before this I didn't have much social life. I'm generally trying to be more zen about my life. I've got a good job, good co-workers, and good friends. It's not perfect, but it's pretty decent. :) Mid-late 20s are definitely looking up compared to the early 20s.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
...um. no idea, sorry..

Ok that's enough memes for 2011. Just over 3 hours until 2012! Most of the world has already beat us there... After us it's just Alaska, Hawaii, and a few other islands, I think. Well, Happy New Year everyone! Stay tuned for some fannish postings later, hopefully. DSSS reveals are up, so I'm going to post that, plus other stuff that I've been too lazy to post.
