DUDE. Jewel Staite is going to be at this year's Serenity Equality Now screening in Vancouver!! I missed her lats year because of work, but this year it's on a Sunday so I can go. SWEET. I'm buying a ticket right now, because they'll probably go fairly quickly with that news out. If anyone wants to come, I'd recommend booking fairly early - it's $15 ($16 on Paypal; I think it's PP's service charge). Sunday June 22nd at the Norm Theatre at UBC; doors open at 11 for various events, movie starts sometime round 2-3 I think, and Jewel's going to be there for a 1/2 hour q&a before the movie. I'd love to have someone to go with, if anyone's interested. It'll be fun - Browncoats are always a blast - I can say that with definite certainty after spending 5 days on board a cruise ship with a bunch of 'em.

On another note - computer update... Harddrive's toast. *sigh* He can get my files off, though, so I've given him a list of a few folders I need. He's willing to sell me a used 100 gig harddrive for $80, which for an internal laptop harddrive isn't bad. Though I'm a bit iffy about the used part. Anyway, I'm at my parents' house right now, using Dad's computer to post this, check what's on my external harddrive (ie what do I have backed up...), and to look up laptop harddrives online. Will prob just go for the one he has, though, cuz it's pretty cheap and it'll be done within a day or so.

Anyway, Lost, SPN, and GA tonight! Woo hoo! I'll have Mom's laptop with me, bk635, so we should be able to do the LT... though her laptop doesn't always get the Internet very well (no idea why - mine was fine, and her's connects fine at other places).

Hard drive is still "alive" if he can get the data off it normally. A format would probably fix it.

Huh. He said it's toast.. go figure. Still, this is the second time this harddrive has conked out on me in two months, so I'm inclined to ditch it. I'm torn between the one he has, which means I can prob get it back by tomorrow night, and one on Best Buy (in stock at both the Cambie and Metrotown locations) that's $120 for a 160 gig harddrive. So... I dunno. *sigh* Prob will just go for his, cuz otherwise I'll have to wait for Monday or Tuesday.

Hard drives truly die if there's an eletrical fuckup or the readerhead misalignes and/or touches the magnetic plates (among others). But faults like these usually take the data along with them.

I'd probably just take the used 100 gb one. Remember that you also have to pay the guy. :\

Hmm, makes sense. I'll ask him if a reformat will fix it, but otherwise I'll go for the 100 gig one. 40 gigs more than what I have, and pretty cheap. And presumably in decent shape if he's selling it to me... I hope. o.o

Hmm. If I can track down a member of the BC Browncoats, and June 22 doesn't conflict with work or celebrating my sister's high school grad, I'll come. But that's a decent amount of ifs, so we'll see.

I'll need to look into the timing then. I have a suspicion that's about the time I'll need to on the Island for the grad party, though, but yeah, will look into it.

The problem with PayPal is that I don't have a credit card. But I would definitely be glad to pay you back. :)
