I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

That's exciting. XD

Revival of the Legendary Thread, yes!

Our team at bowling won the prize for donating the most money ($499 I believe was our final total), so we got $100 worth of gift cards for various restauarnts. Then they came and gave us another $75 worth of cards for some reason or another (seriously, no idea why). We rock. XD

Did you ever watch the video in this post? http://ria-oaks.livejournal.com/329909.html?thread=1189301&style=mine#t1189301
You should!

Haha..Congrats. Did you actually have to bowl? :o

The kitty one? Yeah, it was cute. :)

Well, the whole point (aside from the fundraising, of course) was to go bowl, so yes. XD It was fun. I'm not very good, but it was still fun and I did pretty well the second game.

I also got a free t-shirt and a $10 gift card for Best Buy for raising $50. Woot! Though I don't get the card yet; evidently they'll contact me about it. Which sucks, because I was hoping to have it so I could go there this weekend (it's next to a big pet store, so I can finally buy Toby-the-fish).

*iz bored* Supposed to be studying, but not feeling too great (also, lazy) so am watching SV reruns on YTV instead (last season's finale)... Also, I've watched up to ep10 of SPN now. I see what you meant about ep8 - not necessarily a bad ep per se (some nice scenes between the brothers), but ew ew ew. Never been scared by the show before, but had to close my eyes in that one. Can't deal with killer bugs. o.o Not exactly an enjoyable episode overall, heh. Ep9 was really good. I'd see ep10 before, but watched it again (saw it over the summer when I was bored one day). Decent ep, some interesting developments in Sam's character and his and Dean's relationship, and nice cliffhanger ending (their dad calling) - vaguely remembered that something like that happened at the end, but wasn't sure what.

Oh..haha. Episode 08 I didn't like because I didn't like how the conflict was handled. I think it was the cheesy CG or the fact that it was night for only like, 5 minutes before everything was all settled and over with.

But yeah, never watch the movie Arachnophobia. It was made before CG was mainstream, so it looks realistic.

I think "Croatoan" is my favorite episode so far, but that's halfway through S2.

Yeah, that bugged (haha) me too. It was ridiculous how they were all "we have to hold out until dawn!" then "we're so screwed!" then five minutes later "it's dawn now, we're fine!" Wtf?

Believe me, I never plan to. *shudder*

Just watched ep11 ("Scarecrow") and really enjoyed the conflict between Sam and Dean... some nice character stuff.

Ooh, shiny, more Jossverse alumni. :) They just pop up everywhere these days...

gah, now I kinda want to watch. ;_; must study... assignment due tomorrow (about halfway done) and midterm Tuesday (not very confident about it) and I feel shitty so it's hard to concentrate...

Yeah, I was surprised she came on the show; I didn't know about it before-hand but I recognized her immediately because she has a very distinctive voice.

I have to study too. ;(

How annoying. There's no Prison Break tonight; instead, we get treated to two hours of fucking 24.

Yeah, I know. It sucks, though actually I'm kinda relieved since I have a midterm tomorrow morning and I need to study tonight... new ep next week, at least.

Yeah, they are. I hate mushrooms.

This is a very enlightening conversation, isn't it? XD

We're supposed to get 40cm of snow by tomorrow... we're all hoping that school gets cancelled. ^^; It's already piling up out there.

Hey, a question. I'm looking up ficional books about prison because I might be writing an essay on media representations of prisons, and I came across a book called 'Kiss of the Spider Woman'. The name sounded really familiar, and I think that's because you mentioned reading it in your English class? Could be wrong, but I thought I rememebered that. If that is the case... is it any good? And does it give a good/interesting portrayal of life in prison?

From: [identity profile] bk635.livejournal.com
Yes, I read it last year. It was a very entertaining book. It's written as a dialogue between two, and only two, characters. It doesn't describe any setting or action; everything must be inferred from the dialogue. The book doesn't even tell you who's talking, so you have to keep up with the conversation. It takes place in an Argentinian prison. One man is a gay self-centered window dresser who spends a lot of time describing movies (as a form of entertainment) to his cellmate, who is an introverted revolutionary.

But no, it's not about prison, so I doubt it's what you're looking for. I'd read it anyway, since it's a really good (and different) book.

Hmm. Yeah, not what I'm looking for, but sounds interesting... maybe I'll give it a go someday. Do you own it? Think I could borrow it when I get back? I'm trying to read more books these days, in theory... don't read enough anymore. *sigh* Just been re-reading LotR for the last, like, 2 monthes on and off. Very slowly. -_-

Yeah, I own it. I think it's my favorite book that we read from that class.

Didn't get around to it... plus I don't like typing on my cousin's computer. ^^ Bu I enjoyed it . Nice seeing Pope back, loved his interactions with Michael, great ending. Loved them running over Kim then locking Kellerman out. XD Poor Paul, heh. I still love Mahone. A lot. Loved how he completely understood C-Note because he's a father, too, esp in that scene at the bus when he was forced to let them go. And damn them, they made me feel kinda sorry for T-Bag... Though I'm a bit 'eh' on he whole 'he was raped as a child so he turned out like this' thing, because that seems so typical... excited to find out what's on the tape, and to see what's going to happen to C-Note (how does he plan to help Mahone find Michael? And is Mahone going to have to find a way to kill him after...?).
