Halloween, various updates
Nov. 4th, 2009 10:33 amIt's the one year anniversary of the US election! Wow, hard to believe it's been one year since Obama was voted in... feels like just yesterday. And it'll also be the one year anniversary of me getting into pundit fandom in a few days... yikes! It's been a good year in this fandom - it's definitely one of the most fun, welcoming, and generally wank free fandoms I've been in. I never expected to fall into this fandom, didn't even really know it existed (I knew about Jon/Stephen fic, but not about the realnews stuff) and wouldn't have thought I'd fall for it so hard. Go figure. :)

quettalinde and caravanvixtor and we had a good time. It was great seeing Buffy again - we watched Fear Itself and of course Once More With Feeling, neither of which I've seen in ages. The party was fun, too - lots of cool costumes, and it's always nice just being around SF fans and such...
Anyway, some potential big news. One of the temp agencies called me on Monday night about a full time position with VANOC (the Olympics committee) that would last until the end of the Olympics. It's data entry, but it pays well and hopefully there will be other duties invovled (mom's convinced that as soon as I get in there and prove what I can do that they'll give me more exciting duties, so let's hope so!). I wasn't sure at the time, though, so I told him I'd call back Tuesday morning then proceeded to call my parents and beg for advice. ^^ I was all set to turn it down because I don't want to do data entry for 4 months, but Mom convinced me that it'd be a great opportunity. So I called Tuesday morning and left a message with the agency saying yes. Then they email me back a few hours later saying that my name had been submitted to their 2010 team and they'd let me know if I've been selected. Which, wtf, they did not make clear on Monday! I thought I had the job. Anyway, seems that there are 3 positions and 6 candidates, and they're supposed to get back to me today to let me know if I've got it. Which... stressful... I'm trying not to think about it, but I just keep hoping the damned phone will ring. *sigh*
I also really need to know soon because I've got a couple of things I've committed to in November that I won't be able to do if I get this job, and I want to let the others know asap. Gaaaaaaaaaah. Call already! *stares at phone* Plus I was really hoping I'd know by this morning if I got it so I can go buy an iPhone without feeling too guilty, but no luck. If I get the job, I'll go tomorrow... now that Bell's finally released the iPhone on their network I can get one and just renew or switch plans without breaking my contract. Otherwise I was going to have to wait until next September, when my Bell contract expires, and then switch to Rogers. So, yay for getting one now! But I would like to have a job first, heh... I just got a nice-sized cheque from paying out my pension plan from the credit union (decided to take it rather than switch it to an RRSP given that I could use the money right now...) so I could still afford one, I guess, but I probably shouldn't...
And that's about it. I've got a few hours work assignment this afternoon through another temp agency, whoopee. -_- It's barely worth the 40 odd dollars I'll make, but I guess it's something to do. Aside from sit here stressing. *sigh*
Oh, and last but not least - check out the pumpkin I carved! It's Rorschach and the Watchmen logo, and I'm pretty proud of it. :) Though it's starting to rot, I need to throw it out... wah. Rorschach was done from this stencil, and the logo I did myself.
