*bites fingernails* *muses* Okay, I'll bite... I'm starting to be won over by Dreamwidth. :) When I heard that you can import your entire LJ over there... that helped, a lot. Because I don't want to start from scratch - I've had this journal for 6 years and am rather fond of it. I have no plans of leaving LJ for ages, since all my friends and comms are still on here, but increasingly I see people on my f-list saying anything from "going to start cross-posting everything to my DW" to "some content will only be on DW" to the occasional "hauling ass and getting the fuck out of here" (which hey, I can understand... LJ's pissed off a lot of people the last few years, and while I love the people and comms here, the company is shit). So I suppose it can't hurt to have an account to prepare for the potential eventual mass fannish exodus from LJ to DW. ^^ I remember everyone talking about doing that 2 years ago, during Strikethough, and nothing came of it at the time except GreatestJournal's servers frying from the influx of new users. Heh. But this... this may actually work. The people over at DW really seem to have the right idea, and they sound much more open and honest than LJ, plus they're fixing a lot of the problems that LJ had while keeping the good stuff. So if they can make it work... well, we'll see what happens. :)
In the meantime, anyone have a spare invite code? :)
(and just to make it clear... I have no intention of leaving LJ anytime soon unless there is a very quick mass exodus, which I doubt will happen in part because of the many established comms on LJ which can't be directly imported to DW. Nor do I intend to make any DW-only posts at this time beyond a probable intro post. But as a backup, and to easily follow the few people whose LJs I read who said they will start posting DW-only material... could be useful. :) And crossposting is evidently v. easy and can be set up automatically.)
