Sitting in Koerner Library before class... theoretically was supposed to be getting some work done, but that... hasn't really happened. ^^; Instead I've been deliberating over whether or not to pick up a copy of Heroes season 1. I want to re-watch season; there's a lot of details I've forgotten... plus it's a shiny 7-disc set with a ton of extras. Found an eBay buy-it-now fr only $34 inc. the shipping, which is pretty good. I dunno; I don't really have time to be watching more stuff right now, and it seems silly to be spending so much time rewatching stuff I've already seen instead of, say, getting off my ass and finishing Homicide: Life on the Street or watching Battlestar Galactica or Stargate: Atlantis or.. something. I have a list somewhere in my head. ^^; Instead? I'm rewatching Babylon 5 obsessively. And I'd rather like to finish that before starting something else (though it'll be awhile; I only just started s2). Plus I'm gonna need to rewatch bits of Farscape for my essay soon. And admittedly, it's not like I don't have ages and ages to rewatch Heroes s1 (and 2, for that matter) before season 3 starts.

*thinks* Well, I've got another auction that's only $26 with the shipping which is a proper auction, but it ends tomorrow and there are no bids, so maybe I'll wait and see if I can get that one... I'll feel marginally less guilty about it if it's $8 cheaper. XD

Anyways, I watched Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles 1.03 on the bus today and enjoyed it. God bless technology, ya'll - I missed it last night, so downloaded it overnight, converted it to iPod format this morning, and tossed it on my iPod Touch to watch on the bus. Sweeeet. Decent ep; I'm enjoying the show overall. Gotta love Summer Glau. :)

Okay, better run to class now..

Heard the news standing in a bus line at UBC; checked my email and saw your comment, [livejournal.com profile] bk635. Thought about it the enbtire way home on the bus (listening to the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack, which made me even more depressed). When I switched busses downtown I passed by an HMV; went in to find a bathroom and came out with Brokeback Mountain because I realized going inside that I still don't own it. Which is a tad ridiculous, seeing as I have a poster of it on my wall. They had one copy of the collector's edition, so I was happy. (though still needing a bathroom because for some absurd reason the three story high HMV didn't have one, so I had to go wandering around downtown until I found one) Anyway, I didn't have a chance to go online and see everyone's reactions until now, and it's all over my friends list... can't fucking believe it; it's so sad. He was so young and incredibly talented, and my heart goes out to his family and his poor little 2-year-old daughter. I can't imagine what it'll be like for her, growing up never knowing her father except through his old movies. Shit. He was am amazing actor; he blew me away in Brokeback Mountain, and I wouldn't have been surprised if he one day won an Oscar. I was so looking forward to seeing where his career would go; he was just starting out and it seemed like he had so far to go. I also can't help but think that it's remarkable how much people like him can touch the lives of so many people - none of us online knew him, but it's still painful for us because in whatever small way he had an impact on our lives. Truly a tragedy.

RIP Heath Ledger.

And damn but I still can't believe I'm writing those words - helluva shock; I keep remembering and being surprised again. Unbelievable.

In more cheerful news... Oscar nominations are up. http://imdb.com/features/rto/2008/oscars Juno's nominated for best picture! Awesome; that was a fantastic movie. And Ellen Page is up for best actress, against some pretty heavy contenders. Good for her; she's damned young, too. But very talented.

(course, now I'm depressed thinking that we'll never again see Heath's name in the Oscar nominations... well, who knows, maybe for Joker next year?)
