OMGIWON!

First time I've ever won something on Ebay!!!! *bouncing around like little kid*

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5937500062&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

Guess what made me want it. ^___^ Though the adorable Black Hayate in the corner didn't hurt. Also Roy. But wee, Jean looks so delightfully adorable and dorky and cute and mmmm...

Anyway. I WON OMG!

*runs off to pay*

*breathes sigh of relief* Whew. Auction's over, I've sent off the payment on Paypal (how the hell did I survive so long without Paypal? I always used to have to send money orders to order stuff, or steal Mom's credit card. ^^ Which I still do sometimes, if the place doesn't take Paypal.), and now... I wait. Not sure if I should expect a confirmation email from the seller, or if I should email him/her - I got an emailing confirming the payment, so I think it's fine. I chose just the normal, $2.00 shipping - the insured one is $11, which would've made it $16.50 USD instead of $7.50 USD, and that's pushing it... now I just have to hope that it doesn't get lost in the mail. O.o

How come is it that I end up spending more money for myself around Christmas than the rest of the year? *laughs* Case in point, I pre-ordered the Roy Song File the other day. But I had to use Mom's credit card for that since CDJapan doesn't take Paypal, so we actually ended up deciding that it would just be my birthday present... still, I was ready and willing to pay for it myself. ^^;; It comes out on Dec.15, so it'll probably arrive late Dec/early Jan. Not completely sure why I bothered - I'm just going to end up d-loading it, anyway, and burning it onto an MP3 CD, but I want it anyway. Besides, I got the first press w/ the stickers, which is sold out now. ^__^

Okay, enough spammage for at least a few hours... hopefully.

[livejournal.com profile] bronzejarith, I meant to ask you earlier - what did you get for the redshift/velocity/etc of the second line we were supposed to measure in ques. 1 of the Astro? I got redshift = 35mm/78.4nm, v=48361.85 km/s, and d=681mpc, which are lower than the numbers that I got for the first line. Which doesn't make any sense, because I thought that the second line is supposed to have a higher velocity/etc than the first line, since it's farther away from us and is therefore moving faster?

*off to finally get started on the stupid Bruce Medalists segment of the hwk*

EDIT: I've been going through the list of medalists and have found several more - 1925 (Henry Norris Russell) and 1937 (Ejnar Hertzsprung) are the guys who developed the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram. And the guy for 1945 (E. Arthur Milne) sounds familiar but I can't figure out what he did or if we studied him - does his name ring any bells? *looking through it more* Lesse, Joel Stebbins (1941) sounds familiar, too. Oh, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar (1952) - the Chandrasekhar limit. That's all I could find, aside from the ones that we found earlier. Let me know if you find any more and if you know whether or not we studied Milne and Stebbins.
