We're in Norikura-Kogen right now, which is a small town in the mountains. Very nice (little in the way of cultural stuff; more hiking/hot springs/etc), and much cooler than the rest of Japan that I've been to. The last two nights were spent in Takayama, which is a gorgeous town sort-of up in the mountains. It's one of the few places in Japan where it's quite old and it doesn't look like a modern city like Tokyo/Kyoto/etc. Very rural, old houses, old samurai quarters, and a reconstruction of an old Japanese village (the houses in the reconstructed village were all real, though - they've just been moved from various parts of Japan and made into a village setting. Very neat.). Lots of traditional crafts and shopping, though the shopping is obviously more traditional crafts and such than anything. Neat stuff, though.

Anyway, day after tomorrow's back to Tokyo for 3 last nights, and I've managed to bribe Mom into letting me take off on my own to go shopping. *g* I want to go to the main Mandarake in Nakano, and maybe check out some of the shops in Ikebukuro that I missed earlier. I swear, I'm spending far too much money...

Guess that`s it for now... Sorta looking forward to getting home and having constant Internet access. ;P And I want to start watching the anime of Naruto now that I've been reading the manga (though I have quite a ways to go in the manga - reading ch. 149 right now.) Actually, caught what I assume is the newest ep of Naruto on TV the other day, and watched it even though I knew it might spoil me... given that it was obviously raw JP, though, I really didn't know what was going on so it was okay. ^^ I've seen a few odd/neat things on TV here so far, though seeing Friends this morning dubbed over in JP (terribly, I might add. Makes English anime dubbing look fantastic) was probably the highlight. My god that was hilarious and wrong. ^^ Though JP-dubbed Winnie the Pooh gets a definate honourable mention...

Should get going, since Mom wants to check her email. The place we're at has free Internet access so I'll probably be online a fair amount over the next day. We arrived here today and have all day tomorrow with little to do except hike a bit and go to the onsen (hot spring), and since it's supposed to rain (there's a typhoon heading this way. Oh joy. O.o), so I'll prob have nothing better to do than go online. ^^ Talk to ya'll later...
