Angel 5X11 "Damage"

Okay, first need to get this out:

ANDREEEEW!!!!

*ahem* God I love him... was so excited when I found out he was coming to Angel monthes ago, and finally seeing the ep... *happy sigh* Him hugging Spike while being all "You're like Gandalf the White!" "I feel like Frodo!" OMG he is so gay and adorable and in love with Spike and... and, "your Viggo Mortensen pecs!" Omg, too funny... And "the slayer of the vamPYres..." heh. And him trying to smoke a pipe... and his adorable hobbit-hair (didn't notice that until someone online pointed it out - so true...). And him tasting the penny and grimacing. All such classical Andrew moments...

Okay, shallow moment over.

Other than Andrew, ep was overall quite good. It was interesting seeing them dealing with the topic of an insane Slayer, obviously very different from our _other_ resident insane Slayer Faith. Spike calling her a monster was interesting, and his saying that they were once victims too - she may have been a victim, but now she's going around indiscriminantly killing people - she's a murderer, no two ways about it. Interesting topic. I really don't have much to say on this ep, actually, other than the Andrew loving...

Spike coming to understand his former evil at the end was good - he seems to be finally comprehending better what he was and what he has to atone for and such.

But ouch, getting his hands cut off? Gotta hurt.

Wes actually doing stuff this ep, and Angel giving him a job - yay. Bout time. Go Wes! Also, shallow moment - Wes with a gun! YUM! *ahem*

Neat finding out where all the Sunnydale gang are... Damn, Willow and Kennedy still together? Sucks. Wtf's Xander doing in Africa? O.o

Okay, really nothing else to say right now... meh. Go Andrew! Anyway, I could probably say some stuff on the end and whether or not Andrew, Buffy, & co are right not to trust Angel & co b/c of W&H, and the continuous question of can they do good there, but I don't feel like it... tired. Going to bed pretty soon, prob.

For more detailed, better expressed thoughts, read what [livejournal.com profile] thebratqueen has to say - she's just so much more articulate... ^^ Some interesting thoughts over there. *runs to read newest chapter of her fic "Pet"*

Ep 100 next week! And a certain special guest star... looking forward to this. ^_^ And then another Steven DeKnight/Drew Goddard penned ep! Woo hoo! They did good this week...

Spike said that "I don't speak Chinese" line again. :o And then, and then, Dana took Spike's coat off in the same manner that he did when he first acquired it. :o

My original guess was that the entire Buffy group is around the world gathering Slayers, but I could be wrong. Sometimes the sound quality is pathetically low.. Did they ever mention what became of Dawn?

I really want Spike to mention "Doyle" around Angel. I just..wanna see that happen. :| Speaking of Doyle, I never realized that the actor that played him also was a star on the sitcom Roseanne (which I watched)...

Is the next episode next week?

[identity profile] ria-oaks.livejournal.com 2004-01-29 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, forgot that was the same line... hm.

Yeah, that's what seems to be the case. Also, Dawn was stated to be with Buffy in Rome; she's attending Italian school there.

That'd be... interesting. O.o Not sure if Spike caught Doyle's name waaay back in s1 when he was there, so dont' know if he recognized the name. Doubt he'd mention him to Angel eithe rway.

And yeah, he was on Roseanne... Not sure what else; I think he was in a movie that was released a while after he died, but maybe not. Btw, speaking of Doyle, out of curiousity have you been watching the first bit of s1 on Space right now?

Next ep is indeed next week; and biiiig ep... Joss penned (course, on Angel? not necessarily a good thing...), 100th ep, big guest star... ^^

Is Cordelia the guest star, or is there someone else?

Nah, I haven't bothered. It's really nice having the evening timeslot off because previously, I had to drop everything I was doing and watch Angel. It was quite inconvenient at times.

Nooot teeelling... :P

K, well, if you ever want to, feel free to borrow my DVDs... ^^

The station announcer said that Cordelia is appearing in next week's episode. So it's not her?

[identity profile] ria-oaks.livejournal.com 2004-01-29 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. They said that?

Bugger, so much for secrecy around here... well, it's in all the trailers.

Yeah, and I thought SPACE was bad. ~_~

I kind of wanted Buffy to show up for an episode or two.. But I heard that Sarah doesn't want to play the role anymore.. That and she would probably just complicate things beyond belief; especially with Angel there (and as the CEO of Wolfram & Hard; a firm that doesn't have the best reputation), and Spike being resurected and all.

With that said, I don't like how they portrayed Buffy in episode ten during one of Angel's hallucinations. If they can't get her on the show then don't try to fake her voice and stick any blonde you find on the street in her place. =|

^^ Stupid stations and their spoilers...

Well, she might come back in later seasons, but def not s5... we'll see, I guess.

Yeah, that sucked. Oh, and for the record - that wasn't a fake voice; they were quotes from 3X20 "The Prom". Not sure bout the first one, but the second ("Can you say jumping the gun? I kill my goldfish!") is from when Angel's breaking up with her and saying she'll eventually want kids, which he can't give her.

Random trivia is fun. ^^

Ah I see.. I'm a little afraid to ask how and why you remember the exact details of those quotes..

I like how they're *sort of* tying the two story lines of the shows together. I think it's about time that they acknowledged the fact that there are probably thousands of Slayers running around out there. In a state as heavily populated as California I'm seriously surprised that they haven't stumbled upon more than one new Slayer already.

I'm really not getting the whole deal with the First Evil though.. Shouldn't its death have caused some sort of massive impact (specifically on the state of Evil), other than sinking Sunnydale?

[identity profile] ria-oaks.livejournal.com 2004-01-29 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, while I recognized the "goldfish" quote I couldn't remember waht ep they were from... someone online mentioned it, so I checked the script to see where that quote was exactly.

It is good that they're finally bringing up the Slayer thing.. ^^

First Evil=issues. Really, you _can't_ destroy evil - the world needs a balance. It's the whole thing with Adam&Eve and the apple and the knowledge of evil to know good... and evil's within everyone - if you destroyed it, you'd destory the world. So I really have no idea wtf happened there. O.o Hm, makes me think a bit of FFVII, and the whole question of what happened at the end, and if the Lifestream obliterated humanity b/c it was all evil... Anyway. Different subject. ^^

Anyway, going to bed; I'll reply to anything further you say in the morning... nighty.
