*bites fingernails* I've been refreshing CNN.com at work since the first polls closed 2 hours ago, and couldn't concentrate on work very well. ^^ Now home with CNN on in the background and the website up, and things are looking good... I hope. o.o This is gonna be an exciting evening! It's funny to see so many people all over my f-list who aren't American also watching the election - hell, I've paid far more attention to it than the Canadian one (which face it, was a complete waste of time). Can't seem to tear my eyes off of it... after all, it certainly impacts all of us as well. Anyway, gonna go grab some food then settle down and watch the results come in all evening. Yay. ^^ (also, Indecision 2008 at 10pm - can't wait! Wish I could see it live, though - it airs at 10pm EST and 10pm PST, so we're getting it 3 hours later... wah. Why couldn't they air it at 7pm here??)

This is precisely what's wrong with this country.

Well, our election was a farce, and it didn't change anything. This election is far far more important - just look at the people across the world who have been watching so intently. I care about our country, but this last election was pointless. Hopefully we can avoid having another one until it will actually change something. -_- Talk about a waste of money and time. Plus, face it - our campaign lasted for 6 weeks. The American one has been going on for monthes, years. And it's far more entertaining. ;)

It's not just this election. It's pretty much every election that I can remember. Look at the passion that the US citizens have for their country, and compare it to ours when we have elections (hell, even in general). People simply don't care about Canadian politics, and we end up paying for it.

Even in this short 6 week election, if people actually cared, we'd have more than a pathetic <55% voter turnout. There was a chance to make a difference, and nobody gave a fuck.
