FF ramblings

I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

LOL I think I've heard about that... sounds kinda nifty, actually. XD XD

Yeah.

I think music with a good rhythm and high bass would work best. Like rap, unfortunately (although it usually does have sexy lyrics, so....).

I imagine rock would work well too.

Or, you know, you could put on interviews and such with your favorite TV celebrity(ies) and.. away you go. >.>

Yeah, a good heavy beat would prob be best... LOL at using interviews - I could just stick on The Daily Show and listen to Jon Stewart. ;) Except then he'll have a clip of some politician talking and that will end up traumatizing me.

Like Bush or Rumsfeld.

"Oh goodness ... I shouldn't say 'I don't think so', although that's what I think."

AHHH EWWWWW. Yes, that would be a good way to kill the mood. XD

(is it bad that I've gotten to the point where I'm leaving certain news shows on in the background just to watch certain anchors, and completely ignoring the news itself...? In my defense, it's not nearly as entertaining now as it was pre-election. ^^)

You can be pretty confident that you're not the only one who does that.

So I've seen from being in this fandom. ;)

(okay, I do kinda pay attention to the news, when there's something interesting.. but right now it's either the economy or "who's Obama going to pick to be his ____(insert staff title)___", neither of which really interest me (I don't KNOW most of the people they're talking about, really, so... my interest in American politics only goes so far). I miss the Palin-baiting and general pre-election insanity. ;) Wish I'd gotten into the fandom earlier, so I could've watched Keith's coverage of it all.. not really interesting to back and watch it now. Oh well.)

And Daily Show/Colbert Report are off this week. Boo. How dare they take time off to be with their families on Thanksgiving. XD Heh.

I only follow the Early/National/Local news on Global. So that's like 2 hours of news I listen to almost every day. Though often times there's not a whole lot of exciting things going on here, so they report US news instead. So I kind of keep up, but I'm not all that familiar with their politicians, and I don't really care enough to find out. >.>

I really should watch the 6:00 news on Global.. Dad's been watching it every day, like clockwork, for as long as I can remember. ^^ It's nice seeing local news, at least. And there's only so much CNN I can stomach, pretty though Anderson is... that's what fanfic is for, so I can enjoy him without the incessent discussing of the same things over and over.

I'm only really familiar with the main players in politics, both ours and theirs... beyond those, not that interested. Trying to get more informed, though, and I figure that whatever my secret reasons for watching certain news shows is, something's still seeping in. :)

CNN is too busy and glitzy for my tastes.

I've been regularly watching the news on Global for about 2 years now, I think. I can't say that it hasn't had a positive impact on me. It's hard to say in what ways, though. I suppose having more to talk about is one thing, and being informed is another. But there's a greater benefit which is more difficult to articulate.
