FF ramblings

I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

Okay, turns our we're staying overnight anyway, but parents are heading up first thing. So let me know later tonight, I guess, if you want to go to the movie tomorrow.

Yeah that's fine. Famous Players, right?

Yeah. At 2:20. Okay, cool... if we get the C15 at 1:40 then we arrive at 1:58 - sound good? Or should we get the earlier one? Then we could wander around, maybe go to Big Pete's (I was at Golden Age today and they had super-deformed plush Iron Mans. They were pretty sweet. Didn't buy one, but might check the price at Big Pete's...). And I wouldn't mind looking at drawing tables at Opus... I dunno, whatever.

Apparently someone in Prison Break is supposed to die around 8 episodes in. Wonder who it will be.

1:40 is good. I want to get some work done in the morning.

Yikes.

Better not be Mahone.

Mmkay, I'll meet you at the bus stop round 1:30-35...

Probably will be him. :| Can't really think of anyone else. Self and Ronald are still important to the overall story; Sarah just came back to life; Gretchen's story is just beginning; T-Bag--maybe him?; and Bellick and Sucre have no reason to die (it would just seem out of place for them to suddenly do so).

Mahone is the only character that not only has a story arc that's been going on for a while now (since season 2), but he's the only character that's actually chasing death.

Or maybe it will just by Wyatt, but it won't have an impact on anyone because nobody likes or cares about him. Like with Lechero.

...shaddup. *pouts because you're probably right* If he dies, honest to god... *sigh* I like the show for other reasons and characters, but him the most. :( And, and, he needs to kill Wyatt first! And get together with Pam again. :( :(

Maybe they'll shock us and kill Linc. ;) I remember people talking about that possibility a couple of seasons ago (misleading spoilers, I think, but anyway...). Not that I want him to die, and face it, I doubt he will (yet).

No, the writers have said that the only characters who are "safe" on the show are Michael and Lincoln.

Although I can formulate scenarios where Self and Ronald will die. Ronald is easy; he contacts Wyatt to meet up and spill information--Wyatt kills him when he gets what he wants.

Self will most likely be the one used to get close to Krantz (taking him up on his job offer) and download his partition of Scylla. He succeeds, but ends up getting killed (e.g., can't be trusted, etc). The only caveat is that Self is Michael and company's only link to freedom. If he dies, they're fucked. So I'd say that Ronald is more likely to die out of the two.

Meh, oh well. Suppose that's to be expected. I just remember some rumours going on a year or so ago about "one of the brothers dying", but obvs it never happened - probably just a fake spoiler. ^^

Either Self or Roland (it's Roland, not Ronald, I'm pretty sure - and that's what imdb.com says) can die and I'll be quite happy. ^^ Though if they're going for a major character death that we'll actually care about... could be Sucre, I suppose. Mahone's looking likely, I'll grant, though I think it'd be a shame to kill off such an interesting character/talented actor...

I know. Every time I see Mahone do anything I get all worried that he's going to die. :| He's easily one of my four favorite characters.

Sucre, maybe. But I dunno. If they're going for emotional impact then he's probably not a good choice. He (and Bellick) at this point are just side characters that are conveniently there whenever Michael needs an extra hand or two to do something.

Yeah, my picks are either Ronald, Wyatt, or Mahone. I want to add T-Bag, but my intuition says otherwise.

Is it just me, or was T-Bag very scary last episode? He's done bad things in the show before, but last episode really made it clear to me just how dangerous he really is.

On another note - slight change of plan... I'm heading up to Lynn Valley round 12 to pick something up from the library (an Iron Man TPB, don't judge me... XD), then will head straight to Lonsdale. According to the bus plan I've mapped for myself I should arrive at the key round 1:30, so I'll have lunch then at the Quay. I'll meet you at the bus stop at the Quay at 2... and I'll have my cell phone, just in case. That okay with you? (I'm also hoping to score some Batman TPBs - picked one up at VPL today and am enjoying, and am realizing that the library is a nice free way to read comics in hardcopy (I can get em all online, but aside from the illegal aspect I also prefer to read the hardcopies - comics are kinda hard to read on computer, anyway. I'd like to own them, granted, but... they're expensive. o.o And I'm not sure which I'll like, so this is a good way to test them out.)

And it's after 12 and I'm getting rambly. Stop me now... -_-

I don't know what a TBP is.

Yeah, that's fine.

Trade Paperback. Aka a book/graphic novel collection of several comic issues.

Okay, sure thing.
