FF ramblings

I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

Yeah, true enough.

Good god, enough commercials, much, Fox? -___-

Haha.. One of the commercials showed Lincoln taking an axe to the glass before it actually happened in the episode. -_-

LOL I noticed that. When I saw the commercial I didn't really think anything of it, though maybe it was just an earlier scene I'd forgotten about, until he grabbed the axe from the fire truck (which, btw? Awesome.). Since when the hell do shows have previews for the current episode while it's airing?? ^^:

Holy shit, the plot is moving really quickly this season. This feels more like a 13-episode season rather than a full one.

Yeah, it is. But it's definitely entertaining and exciting. Finally. Fuck, I missed THIS show, the way that it was in s1/2. So happy to see it back on track.

And OH GOD ALEX. *sob* YAY for Pam being alive, but still so sad that Cameron is dead... but OH, Linc and Alex. I'm all flaily, and I haven't felt this way about Alex or the show since s2. So happy right now. :) And suddenly craving Linc/Alex like whoa. Shit. ^^;

So that was Pam we saw in the cell last episode. I thought it was Gretchen/Susan.

Yeah it's really a whole lot better than Season 3. Although I've seen some pretty harsh opinions about these new episodes. I guess Season 3 left some people with a bad taste.

You're filthy. ;o

I don't think so... he said that they left her alive to use her to find him, and that she's in protective custody right now. Plus, Gretchen's actress is in the credits still... (and how the hell does she get a "with" credit? I don't think she's an especially good actress... and it's getting a bit crowded with her, SWC, and Fitchner. ^^ (for that matter, how did A. Michael Rapaport get third credit, and B. Wade Williams got credit above Robert Knepper? Has he always been above him. Bleh. Robert's the better actor and has the more interesting character, imo... I could see him deserving an 'and/with' credit one day if they kick someone else off. ^^)

...yes, I overthink these things. On a more shallow note: wee shiny new opening! :)

Oh well, can't please everyone... first 2 eps were decent, I think overall I enjoyed this ep more. I found last week's eps a bit jumpy and uneven, esp the first one. Was glad to see them out of Sona, but also kinda 'wtf?' about the quick resolution to last season's storylines. Found it a tad hard to follow, too - kept thinking I was missing scenes because I kept pausing and then catching up with my TiVo (which had been set up for all of about 30 minutes at that point).

Yes, yes I am. Even filthier? I just thought of the possibilites for Linc/Alex/Michael porn and my mind pretty much shortcircuited. And I don't even LIKE Linc/Michael. (though I did have a dream about them last year, where Linc was visiting Michael at Sona and they kissed through the fence. ...Yeah, I dunno.)

Hm.. I don't know who that is in the cell then. Gretchen, probably.. I can't really think of any other female characters who would be in that situation.

Ah, so that's who the actor that plays Self is. I've seen him around in many different shows. I think he has a lot of actor seniority so it may have been hard to get him on the show, and the credits order was a sort of compromise. As for Wade Williams? Fuck if I know. Knepper is a fucking talented actor.

Yeah, I found the first two episodes quite difficult to follow. They were okay, but I didn't like them as much as this one.

Filthy is good. Keep it up. ;o

I assume it is, yeah. I'd have to double-check the scene to make sure, though...

Yeah, he's been in a fair amount. I recognized him from Friends (he played one of Phoebe's boyfriends) and My Name is Earl. I suppose that's why, yeah. Meh. I would prefer characters that have been around for awhile and who are IMO better actors to be getting the higher credit.

LOL, since when did you like hearing me talk about how hot 2 male characters would be together, esp when they also happen to be brothers? XD (but seriously, Linc/Alex/Michael post 4.03... someone write it, stat! Well, Linc/Alex at least... bonding over their sons and angsting. Woot! ...I never though I'd see the day when I wanted to read this pairing...)
