FF ramblings

I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

So, plans for tomorrow - we're doing dinner at Milestones on Robson at 5:30, then movie at 7:45 on Burrard. I'm getting downtown ~4:15-30, so if you want we can meet up and get my present and wander around Pacific Centre or wherever. Or else, if you wanted to skip dinner and meet up after, I can just get the present and you can pay me back. Lol, how sentimental are we? XD Anyway, let me know what you want to do.

Also, Jane says she should almost def have the car, so we should be able to get a ride home after. If not, I vote taxi... but shouldn't be a problem.

And I think I'm getting a cold. *sob* Mom's had one for the past week, and I can feel it sneaking up on me... hopefully I'll be okay tomorrow. *sigh*

In the future, the birthday person will be taking his friends to malls and picking out what he wants right there on the spot. It's a trend. And we're starting it. Efficiency is the motto. Bad gifts will be a thing of the past.

It's going to bring about world peace, and we're going to win Nobel Peace Prizes which come with a million dollar side-prize.

I'm starting to get sick too. All of that stress from exams and everything is finally catching up on me. Happens ever year. :\

Plans sound fine. I dunno where I want to jump in though. I'll probably just meet you at the Future Shop around 4:30 or something.

Lol, I suppose. But I like finding fun gifts for you. :) Cept I can't think of anything yet this year. Damn.

Sucks. :( Tis the time of year though, it's true.

Why don't you take the 212 at 4:17 from Phibbs? Gets you downtown to Granville & Dunsmuir at 4:38 (yes I looked that up lol). Give me a call on my cell when you get there, and we'll meet up at Futureshop (Robson & Granville, 2 blocks south of where the bus stops).

My cat fucked up my arm. D:

It's raining right now. Do you still want to wander around a few hours before dinner now, or do you want to arrive later just at dinner? If so then I can just meet you at Silvercity (Tinseltown?). I'll stop by Futureshop just before to buy your gift, too. It's up to you.

Well, I'm taking the 3:00 ferry and getting downtown ~4:15, so I'm kinda stuck there... I have to go to Futureshop anyway to pick up Dad's present. Which all does kinda suck since I dont' feel well and I'll have time to kill, but oh well... I'll go to Pacific Centre or something. It's up to you when you want to meet up with me, really. :) We could always go to the restaurant for a drink beforehand, I suppose, though I don't much feel like alcohol right now. I don't know; I'll give you a call when I'm off and we can work it out (I get off at 2:30).

Ah, well the weather seems to have cleared up anyway now, so it's no longer an issue. I just wasn't looking forward to wandering around in the rain. >.> Call me anyway; I may decide to stick around for dinner at home first so I might just meet you at the restaurant. I dunno. Do me a favor and post addresses to the restaurant, Future Shop, and the Silver City (unless it's at Tinseltown; I know where that is).

Oh, and what happened with your cat? o.o sounds painful

I play with him every morning, before he goes down for the day. He got too playful and started biting my feet (which really hurts, given that there's no padding there) and jumping at my arms. Now I just have 5 semi-/light scratches on my arm. Meh
