FF ramblings
I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.
3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.
And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

How're you feeling about tonight?

I think Henrickson (that FBI guy) will be in next week's episode. I don't know how I feel about him, yet. He's been pretty clueless all this time.
Also, earlier today I just remembered that Sam displayed telekinetic powers in season 1.
I dunno. I'm kind of looking foward to going, and kind of not. Bleh. It's just not my thing. I say this now, but I know that if I go I'll have fun. Are you still going? Are we taking a cab back, and is the bus fare two zones? Call me later anyway to confirm.

Henrickson, sweet. I'd like to see where they go with his character - I like how he's basically a good guy doing the right thing, as he believes it to be, and I'm interested to see what will happen if his belief system gets shaken and he realizes that he's actually wrong. Sorta like Mahone in early s2, before he turned out to be vaguely nuts and working for the Company and all. ;)
I know! I keep waiting for those to re-emerge. That was two seasons ago, for chrissakes, I want to see them again.
Eh, it's not really my thing either, but I never go out anymore and it'd be nice to do something. It's not like a dance club or anything; it if was, I wouldn't go. It's just hanging out at a pub and chatting and drinking a bit. No hard-core getting smashed for me. ;) And it might be nice to have the four of us together again, assuming Sara does come - it's been like 5 years since that's happened! Oh, and

Yeah, it would be interesting if they did that with Henrickson. But he's such a minor character that I can just see them wrapping up his storyline at any moment, or having him disappear and reappear next season.
I forgot about those powers, but remembering them out of nowhere made me more interested in seeing more of the plot. ;p

I hope they remember that Henrickson is a potentially important character and that he has a lot of potential. If anything, would it kill Kripke to give us an interesting, well-rounded, not dead, and not batshit insane/evil/stupid black character? Really? -_- Someone commented on how Gordon is the second antagonistic black character that Sam has ruthlessly killed. Kinda disturbing. o.o And you know, I only just realized the imagery of how Sam killed Gordon, and what that could symbolize. Meep. (don't get me wrong, I don't think the show is intending to be racist or anything, but it's treatment of race (and gender) has been... frankly not exemplary. Not as terrible as some make out, but it could be better.)
I'd love to see more of those powers. After all, as we saw in the s2 finale, he has the potential to do a LOT more than he does now. Like say.. control demons? ;)

And the bus fare is two zones? I only have prepaid one zone tickets, so I'll have to dig up some change..

And yeah, if we all leave together. But at the least, the two of us most likely would be. So it'd still only be $5-7 each.
