FF ramblings

I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

It did look hardcore at the end of s2... sigh. Seemed pretty bad in 3.01, too, ut it's gotten less scary I think.

ROFL you do realize that you juse said that Michael should be shirtless more, don't you? XD Well, I agree, albeit for different reasons I suspect... anyway, though, without them needing the tattoo it'd really be too much work for the make-up artists and Went - it's a good 3 hours in the chair, I think, to put it all on. I miss it too, it was awesome, but I doubt we'll be seeing much of it unless they have a really good reason to show it.

Yeah, I read it takes something like 4-hours to put that tattoo on. You'd think they would use a series of stencils and spray paint to make the process a whole lot faster..

It played a key role in both seasons 1 and 2, and I don't like how it's been brushed under the rug so far. I thought it was a defining character attribute, too.

Lol, stencils and spray paint, eh? Dont' think that'd work too well. XD

It was, true enough, but what more role could it really have? It was designed to get them out of Fox River and away to Panama, but now that that's all been accomplished there's no more reason for him to need it. Sure it'd be cool to see it again, but there's really no storyline reason.

They have body paint and such; it can come in a can. I mean, with all the makeup behind Hollywood, I'm sure they could come up with something easy, involving stencils. ;p

Like I said above, it would boost his hardcore rating amongst the other prisoners. ;p I just don't want them to go out of their way to hide it, that would just be lame. I mean, come on: Are we never going to see Michael in a t-shirt because of his tattoo?

Heh, I dunno, I presume they know what they're doing and are doing it the best and easiest way. :) I think they're like those removable tattoos; they put it down on his skin then use something to rub it on. Or something; I don't remember, though there was a special on the s1 DVD about it.

Anyway though... yeah, it'd be neat, but for Went's sake I don't really see it being feasible often. I imagine we'll see it every once in awhile again, but why go through that every episode just to show it off? It's not worth it. Probably costs money every time, too.

Nah, I was thinking maybe like once or twice this season. Every episode would be overkill; they didn't even do that last two seasons.

Supernatural later~

Oh yeah, every once in awhile.. I hope so, at least. But I can understand why they're not bothering. Hopefully they'll pop up again sometime. :) Gratuitous Michael-in-the-shower scene, ftw!

(though personally, I think I'd prefer to see Alex, heh...)

Mmm, yes, SPN tomorrow night! The weeks are flying by right now, what with TV to look forward to! Still haven't d-loaded and watched Chuck or Reaper though, sigh. Forgot to tape both of them...
