FF ramblings

I happened to check Rpgamer.com a few minutes ago and noticed that FFIII:DS comes out today (I haven't really been keeping track...). I'm probably just being too over-emotional, but this day feels rather historic in the RPG world - the last Final Fantasy that wasn't released in the US is finally here. I checked, and it's been approximately 16.5 years since FFIII was released in Japan - well, better late than never, I guess. XD I mean sure, I played it years ago on a translated ROM and I won't be buying this version anytime soon (lack of a DS... and lack of time to play. woe.), but it's still cool to think that it's here. It's sort of a pity that the original version of the game will never make it here, most likely (how hard would it have been to include the orignal version in the new game, really...?), but the new version looks pretty spiffy. Hopefully I'll get to play it someday.

3 FF games in the past 2 weeks, 2 of which are new to the US (FFXII and FFIII:DS) and one of which only ever made it here in a mangled fashion (FFV Advance) - makes me miss the days when I could play all the time... I haven't really been into gaming as much the last few years, largely because of a. lack of time during school, b. other interests take up my free time, and c. i'm lazy., but I still get excited hearing about games and still want to play when I get the chance. I'm way behind on all the games I'm playing, but I still plan to ask for either FFXII or Disgaea 2 for Christmas (leaning towards the latter - FFXII will be easy enough to find for years to come, and it'll get cheap fairly quickly, whereas Disgaea 2 will start disappearing soon...). I am sorely tempted by FFXII, though - it's been getting fantastic reviews, and hell, it's FFXII! We've been waiting for this game for years, and it's finally here... and I really can't justify the time or money to get it. Part of me, too, is still a bit uncertain about it - but most of the reviews have said that the game is nothing like (and much better than) anything we've seen of it to this point, including the demo. I plan to give it a chance eventually, but can't do it yet.

And... I'm procrastinating. Back to my Farscape paper... it's due tomorrow at 9, so I need to get moving. Up to 5 pages, need about 12 - and I'm still blathering on about the context, haven't even gotten to analysing the series itself! Ehehehe. baaack to work.

Why not...? It's only $30. I presume they're safe enough. Wish we could go to their actual store, that'd be awesome... Hell, I'd probably be willing to order it for you. I order online all the time and don't feel nervous about it.

Also, ordering on eBay is perfectly safe in my experience, so long as the person you're ordering from has a high feedback rating (at least 95%, I'd say, and check the comments). And if you get fucked over you can go to eBay and they'll help you. If you want, I'd be willing to order one from you from eBay if you paid me. *shrug* Though good luck getting it for $80; most seem to be $150 plus. ^^

Hm.. I'll sleep on it.

Okay. ^^ Because seriously, ordering online is generally safe. At least when it's done through reputable places, ie. Amazon. But eBay's relatively safe, I find, since they do have safeguards in place to protect both buyers and sellers. Not sure how effective they are, of course. ^^ But if you're worried about using your credit card online, I can use mine for you. *shrug* (after it gets paid off, anyway, heh. It's full right now... Mom's gonna pay it off for me for the work I've been doing for her).

OOOH, I turned on the TV and it was full screen like you said! Niiice. Why couldn't it stay like that? Full screen and scrolling, I LOVE it. Ahem. Overexcited. -_- And sad because TBS is airing Raymond right now instead of Friends. Wtf? It's Tuesday; usually they have their 2 hours of Raymond on Wednesday... yes, I watch too much TV and know the schedules too well... heh.

Yeah. I don't really like ordering things from sources that I've never heard of. Even eBay, really. Even if they have safeguards you have to go through this whole debacle that I wouldn't really want to deal with. But Amazon is ok with me.

But yeah, I'll think about it more seriously now, since you're willing to use your CC. I wonder what the game includes.. like case, manual, and so forth.

Yeah, I can be a bit iffy about ordering from places that don't seem like proper reputable businesses. Honestly, I'm a bit iffy on this one, but I'd consider it. I mean hell, worst that happens is they steal my credit card number and try to charge stuff to it, in which case I'd cancel it quickly. Not like they can charge much to it; it only has a $500 limit. XD

Anyway, one good thing about eBay is that you can check their feedback rating, as I said - so long as they have lots of feedback and it's all good, chances are you'll be fine. I doubt they would have found hundreds of people to leave good FB just to run scams. XD Though I suppose it's possible, heh.

Okay, he wants $40 for Ikaruga. I assume that's too high? And he wants $70 for Lunar, so I'm obviously not going to get it... haha, oh well, it was worth a try. XD

[identity profile] bk635.livejournal.com 2007-05-09 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely. If I wanted to pay $40 I'd get LoM.

[identity profile] ria-oaks.livejournal.com 2007-05-09 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I figured. :)

I'm not sure when I'll be picking them up; hopefully tomorrow, but they want me to come by at 7:30 and since we're going up to Bowen tomorrow that's prob too late. But if I end up going around, say 6, then I'll come by and pick up the $10 beforehand if you're at home. I'll let you know when I hear back from them.

Also I'm tempted to just give you the go-ahead and order that copy of VP1, but I'm curious as to the quality of it. Is there any way you can contact them and ask if it comes with a manual, case covers, and if the discs are scratched up?

[identity profile] ria-oaks.livejournal.com 2007-05-09 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Already emailed them. :) Waiting to hear back. They do have a 30-day guarantee, though.

Oh right, sorry. They emailed me back earlier today and told me they're sold out of VP. :( They shouldn't list it on their website, then... too bad.

Meh, oh well. Maybe I'll do eBay one day.
