random spoiler for whatever ep of Smallville was on tonight )

Partway through Supernatural and it's quite enjoyable overall so far. :) *cuddles Sam and Dean dolls*

Sitting on the ferry, nothing better to do than write up reviews for Smallville and Supernatural last night... have yet to see The Office or Grey's Anatomy; they're taped up at the island. I was coordinating the taping of all my shows last night while I was out with [livejournal.com profile] rainbowpegacorn for her birthday. XD Had a really good time. We went to Metrotown to Build-a-Bear and built a cow. We gave him a pirate outfit and named him Jack Sparrow. :) Then went out to dinner to a Korean restaurant which was fun though I can't say I liked the food all that much. But we went to Death by Chocolate after and had waffles so all was good. XD Lizzy was there, which was really nice. I haven't seen her much over the last few years, but I like her and I enjoyed chatting with her. Got all the gossip from high school, heh. Though I don't really know many people from Windsor anymore and I can't say I care all that much about the gossip. ^^

Anyway, Smallville... non-spoilery version, it was pretty good and the thing I expected to happen did in fact (probably) happen and I gotta congratulate the producers for having the guts for doing that. Ended on a cliffhanger, of course, and I'm rather worried about the fate of one of my favourite characters...

Smallville 2.22 "Phantom" spoilers )

Anyway, forget Smallville, heh. I enjoyed it, but as soon as Supernatural started I all but forgot it... because holy CRAP. I almost cried during the RECAP, thanks to the use of "Carry On Wayward Son" which I have since downloaded and it makes me all flaily whenever I listen to it because it's a perfect Dean song.

Supernatural 2.22 "All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2" spoilers )

Whew, done. So, the interview.. meep. Think it went well - I had to answer some short written questions "What is your ideal work environment"? and shit like that, and also had to do an aptitude test which I think went okay. I'm mostly worried because she said she wants someone who will be committed and will stay on for a few years. I basically said that I'm not sure at the moment and can't guarantee anything, but if it works out I could be willing to stay for a few years. I hope I sounded enthusiastic enough; I told her that I really want a job like that which will give me office experience, and that I want to work on my written communication skills since that's likely an area I will go into as a career. I don't exactly want to make a career out of banking, but it's a nice starting point. And I caught a glimpse on a piece of paper on her desk of the wage, and it says $14 for the first while (while I'm on probation) then up to $15.10. So yay! :) I hope I got it... *crosses fingers* I'll know early next week. And I'm already stressing about it... really want it, compared to Doc's. Still have to go to work at Doc's on Monday, and I'm a bit stressed about that. I'm not sure if they're going to train me anymore or if they're just going to throw me out there. o.o Plus it's a long weekend, so unless it rains Monday (*crosses fingers*) it'll be super busy. Waah.

EEE Smallville was freaking awesome tonight! spoilers )

The Office tonight was also fantastic; I was cracking up throughout. Oh Michael, oh Dwight, I love you both. <3 "I'm not being sexist, I'm being misogynistic, they're completely different things." "They're the same thing..." LOL Michael is so adorably stupid and dorky and hopeless... Yeah, I love this show. :) Except evidentally it (or Earl, not sure which) went on 15 minutes long and I didn't realize until it was over, so I missed the start of Grey's Anatomy... considered between coming in late and downloading it and decided on the latter. Blah, I was looking forward to tonight's episode, too, what with the spinoff pilot ep.

Anyway, we're back up on the island now. Just Dad and I for the weekend; Mom's off in Kelowna or somewhere visiting friends. I start work on Sunday.. meep. Meanwhile, working hard on dolls. ^__^ Sammy!Doll is coming along; I've got 1 eye partway done. It takes FOREVER, yeesh. He's going to be bigger than my other ones; 20" instead of 15". And he's gonna be adorkable. XD Heh, maybe it'd be fitting to make Dean!Doll the normal 15" to show how big Sam is, lol. Nah, I think I'll make em both 20"... makes them more cuddleable. *is excited*

Supernatural's taped for tonight. Allllmost caught up; watched ep12 today. Really enjoyed it, too. 8 more eps; oughta be done by next Thursday so I can watch ep21 live. Yay! And Sammy!Doll oughta be done by then so I can cuddle him while I watch. ^__^

*wibblesniff* Smallville was so damned good tonight... it made me weepy. ;_; I love Clark and Lex, and it's so sad to see where their friendship has gone... and seeing the remnants of it in this episode... wah.

GA was shiny, mostly. Addy is ridiculously adorable and gorgeous and I love her. And I love her hair, it's so red and pretty and and... anyway. *cough* I may have finally been won over on Addy/Alex, too, even though I'm generally an Alex/Izzy shipper. And I've never particularly liked McSteamy. Next week, pilot of the spinoff - kinda excited, because first off it's about Addison, and second it's got Paul Adelstein! I'd still prefer him to stay on Prison Break, of course, but looking forward to seeing him anyway.

Earl and Office were both good. I love Dwight and Jim. <3

Interview tomorrow at Doc Morgan's. Haven't really prepared, not sure what TO do to prepare, and kinda nervous... meeh. It'll probably go fine; she said it'll be pretty informal.

On the island now until prob Monday. Not completely sure when I'm coming down, but Mom's coming down either Sunday or Monday night so whenever she does I will.

FFTactics is still addicting. Toby has almost achieved Ninja. :) Now working on Chris and Ramza. Because all my main fighters must have Ninja and Two Swords. XD (notice that I have characters named Chris and Toby... yeeeah).

I taped Supernatural tonight. Figured that I might as well tape the final 4 episodes so I can watch them when I'm caught up, if I don't catch up in time to watch them live. Watched ep7 today, which was very good. Mom watched it with me (was watching it while waiting for the ferry) and she liked it too. :)

Ahh Smallville, how I love you with your shallow pleasures and homoerotic subtext... I'm glad you're back. ^___^

Smallville 6.01 - light spoilers, pretty general )

Conclusion? Clark is so Lex/Zod's bitch. Also, a note to the Smallville costume department: Please continue to put Michael Rosenbaum in leather trenchcoats, even when he's not possessed by evil aliens. The world can only be a better place for it.

Less than one week until VM and Lost! Yay!

Oh, other vaguely exciting news: I just signed up for Zip.ca, aka the Canadian equivalent of Netflix. Have a 2 week free trial, so have queued up a ridiculous number of TV shows. Priority is Homicide: Life on the Street s1, since I need it for class, but I guess it wasn't available cause they shipped Prison Break first even though it was lower on my queue (I want to watch the extras on it... ^^). Once the trial's over, my plan is going to be $24.95/month for 3 DVDs out at a time and unlimited monthly rentals. Definitely seemed like the best plan they offerred. After all, that's the equivalent of only 5 new DVD rentals from a typical store! And since most stores rent TV shows as inidiv discs, well... Anyway, this gives me a great chance to watch new shows/catch up on shows/watch DVD extras of shows I've only seen on TV or downloaded. Plus I'll finally be getting them legally for a reasonable price. :) And most stores (ie. Blockbusters) have limited choices of TV shows. And hey, technically it's for my education, right?

Oh yeah, speaking of TV show DVDs - I picked up Lost s2 at the Brock DVD sale. It was only $40, and this way I can bug my mom to get Oz for me for X-mas - I know a site that has really good prices (http://dvdpacific.com/). Also picked up a DVD for Mom for Christmas, because it was cheap - earlier X-mas present ever...

Cause I'm bored, I don't want to work on my essay, and I feel like I should post something, here are some updates on what I've been up to recently...

Lesse, mostly I've just been working on the last of my three essays from last term, on Benvenuto Cellini (an artist in 16th century Italy). It's for History; we have to analyze a primary source about a historical figure (autobiography, letters, diary...) and discuss one aspect of European social history based on that source. Cellini was one of the people on the list; he wrote a long and detailed autobiography about his life and work. I'm going to write about the role of the artist in Renaissance Italy or something like that. Finally finished reading it today (much skimming was involved...), and I'm reading some stuff from secondary sources to make sure that my thesis actually makes sense. o.o; Going to write it this weekend, I hope. Cannot wait to finally get these done so I can concentrate on this term's work.

Classes are going well and are interesting. Really love my Sociology of Sexualities course; interesting material and lectures. I have a group presentation in it next week, meep. Need to finish this essay before I can think about that. ;_; Children's Lit is interesting, too. We started Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban today. XD Happy happy. I was amused how she skirted around spoilers about book 6 when someone asked a question that is basically answered in it... everyone who had read it started laughing when she said "Well, maybe that will be answered in a later book..." It's strange to be looking at HP from a university/academic persepctive, after being a fan of it for so long...

Last weekend I went to a figure drawing class on Bowen - first time I'd ever taken a class. Finally, eh? Been drawing for upwards of 10 years and have never taken a class. @#60;_@#60; It was a great experience, drawing from a live model. And very nice to get hands-on advice and help. I have so far to go... *sigh* But I was fairly pleased with that I did, and I'd like to take more classes like this. I'm going back in April to do a portrait drawing one, so hopefully that'll be good. The guy who does them used to do workshops in France every year through Capilano College, but he retired this year and has started doing one-day workshops at his home on Bowen.

I feel like I should say something intelligent about the 100th episode of Smallville, but I don't have much to say... I enjoyed it, mostly. vague spoilers, nothing that wasn't advertised constantly, but cutting anyway )

Spent most of the evening thus far watching Spiderman on TBS over my dinner. ^^; Rather apropos, after the last Smallville and the constant choice between "I love her! But I can't tell her! But I love her! But it'll put her in danger!" etcetera, etcetera, ad infinitum. I like that movie, though. XD I want to see the 2nd one again; I remember liking it more than the first...

New dub episode of Naruto tonight. *coughs* *looks shifty* Yeah, I've been watching the occasional episode. It's not bad; most of the voices are pretty good, the censorship is very minimal afaik (they just cut "running blood" or something) and the translation is quite true to the Japanese one (ie. "genin/chuunin/jounin", "chakra", even "sensei"). The way they pronounce Naruto's name kinda irritates me, though. Anyway, they're starting the Chuunin Exam now, hence my excitement. First Gaara episode was last week; hard to tell from 2 lines what his voice is like, but it sounded okay. Not as deep or creepy as Ishida Akira's voice, but I'll see what it's like once he starts saying more. Tonight is the first Rock Lee episode! Meep, I'm nervous about what his voice will be like. Hope it's good. I spent awhile catching up on the manga a couple of weeks ago (I was about 25 chapters behind...) Still a few chapters from the most recent, but I'm mostly caught up. In some ways I prefer waiting and reading it in spurts; the chapters just seem to short when it's only once a week, and Kishimoto tends to spread things out over many chapters so it feels like it takes forever for something to actually happen. But it's nice reading 10-20 chapters at once. :)

I haven't had access to a scanner, so I still haven't scanned any of my [livejournal.com profile] fanart100 pictures. I've done 5-6 and have a couple that I'm working on. Not much chance to do them these days, but I try to work on them when I'm watching TV...

That's about it. Not a heck of a lot happening; just stressed out over my essay. Which I really really should be working on right now. I've gotten into the terrible habit of obsessively playing computer card games when I'm bored and don't have anything to do/don't want to work. On the plus side, the more I play the more sick I get of them so maybe this'll die out after awhile.

I should really be studying right now... *cough*

I've see this meme floating around for awhile, and have been meaning to do it...

I) I'll post ten things I'm a fan of.

II) You will attempt to guess my favourite character from each.

Upon your success, I'll put that line in bold, append the correct
answer, and write a sentence or so about my affection for that
character. (well, may or may not do the sentence...)

1. Angel Wesley, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] garran. And this comes as a surprise to who? XD I don't even know where to start in explaining why I love him so much; I suppose it comes down in part to my fascination with seeing how he changed and developed over the years, compounded by Alexis's brilliant acting. I loved him when he was bumbling around and falling over things in season 1, and when he was dark and broody and scruffy in season 4, and I love that his character development between those 2 points (and beyond) was completely organic.

2. Lost Sawyer, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] garran. Sex appeal aside (*ahem*), I find him a fascinating and multi-faceted character, and I'm looking forward to see where they go with his character development, especially in terms of his relationship with Jack (and Kate, I suppose). And he's one of those characters who can make you go from laughing to angsting in a moment...

3. Harry Potter Severus Snape, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bk635. I find him one of the most intriquing, 3-dimensional characters in the books, possibly even the most. I love the ambiguous morality about him, and the idea that he can be a nasty son-of-a-bitch but still be on the side of good. And I remain optimistic even after HBP. :)

4. Firefly Mal, half guessed by [livejournal.com profile] garran, because his guess made me realize that I really have 2 favourites... so, there's still one more to guess. :)

5. Buffy (not sure that I really have a favourite, actually, but I'll choose the closest answer. ^^) Spike, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] garran. He's the closest I have to a favourite, anyway. As least until s6/7.

6. Lord of the Rings (it's actually a tie for this one, so either answer will count) One of them's Faramir (book!Faramir, that is), guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bk635 after a not-so-subtle clue. ;) Copy-pasting my explanation about why I liked him from my comment below: I'm not sure how to explain what I liked about him... in part it's because I admire his strength of character in not being tempted by the ring, which is why the changes to his character in the movies (TTT, anyway) irritated me. I liked the contrast between him and his brother; both how Boromir was tempted by the ring while Faramir wasn't, and the contrasts in their personalities (Boromir as the strong, proud, ambitious warrior, and Faramir as the quieter, gentler, and more peaceful man who was constantly being overshadowed by his brother). Also his relationship with Eowyn. Although admittedly it's been quite awhile since I've read the books, so I'm a bit iffy on that assessment...

7. Naruto Gaara, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bronzejarith.

8. House House, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bk635. Yeah, pretty typical answer, but he really does steal the show... and kudos to BK for also guessing my second favourite, Wilson. ^_^

9. Smallville Lex, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] garran. What can I say, I like morally ambiguous characters...

10. Full Metal Alchemist Roy, guessed by [livejournal.com profile] bk635.

Babylon 5 is notably missing from the list because there is no way that I can choose between them... I love pretty much everyone on it equally. ^_^

In each of your fandoms...
1. Who would you have a one-night stand with?
2. Who would you marry?
3. Who would you party with?
4. Who would be your Best Friend Forever!!1!?

I have a lot of fandoms... ^^;; )

First promo pic of James Marsters on Smallville.

Am very excited to see him with non-bleached/gelled-back hair. It definitely looks better than his hair on BtVS. Nummy. *_* Also, this is one of several s5 promos that I've seen where Tom Welling has stubble - wonder if this will actually be his new look? o.o Different, but yum. Least I'll have something pretty to look at if this season is as bad as last. *sigh*

Other promo shots:

*dies laughing* I mean, seriously - what kind of meaning are they actually expecting us to get out of that?

Again with stubble!Clark. And a suitably dark-looking Lex.

And, of course, my favourite. Bwaha.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] rainbowpegacorn - do you want SV s4? Please let me know, or else I'm going to delete them. I don't mind burning them to a few DVDs or CDs if you do want them or you might want them down the road, but barring that I want to get them off my computer. ^^; Also, I haven't talked to you in ages! How are you? Let's try to talk sometime over the next few days; maybe I'll try to call you tomorrow night. ^_^
